itll be going into a agile al2500 mahogany body mahogany set neck

I'd think a VHII would be good for a VH sound but I might be wrong
But damn - That piece is intense - Watching it almost brought me to a metal breakdown...
Think I'm gunna go lie down now...
-
i really love that piece and cheers
-
i'd say DEFINATELY NOT VHII for the tone in that clip myself... that is NOT a typical Van Halen tone, as I'm sure yu can tell. Sounds to me more like miracle man territory perhaps...

Agreed, it's not normal EVH. Far darker.

Sounds more like a Nailbomb than a Miracle Man. Definately alnico pickups.
-
also take into consideration he isn't using a 5150II on this its the new Fender EVH 5150III so that could account some towards the sound
actually just thinking how would a VHII sound in the neck of a Ibanez rocket roll II (flying v) basswood body when paired witha miracle man in the bridge?
-
That clip was great - thanks for posting!
I reckon a Mule would get you pretty close to that sound. Use the amp to add extra bass and treble and wind in some gain. The tone is typical EVH - a hot-rodded PAF tone.
Love it :D
As for the Rocket Roll, stick a pair of VHIIs in it. I'm sure it's been mentioned several times that work really well in Vs.

i really love my miracle man in teh bridge cos i play a lot of metallica megadeth etc but am looking for a neck pickup for that so would the VHII go with it??
the agile will be completely fit out with new pickups but im unsure on what to put in it atm

Definately Alnico but not massively over powered as it cleans up really well when he rolls back on the volume. A Rebel Yell would do this very well, in fact the clip reminded me of some of solo stuff Steve's done.
Great clip!
-
Lets just say, its been emotional!
-
Did Van Halen always use this much whammy bar?
It reminds me a lot of Steve Vai (please don't shoot me for this comment  ).

im glad someone dug these clips, over at vhlinks.com this song and the other one "rise" got panned by the van halen faithful. Tone wise I wasnt too blown away mainly because of the sustainer over abuse but overall Ed is playing in more of a darker vibe. As far as the bareknuckle thing goes, I was going to saw exactly what Tim said mainly because he told me the exact same thing months ago. i had asked him what he thought in his line would do a good later day Eddie Van Halen and the immediate reply was the Rebels...happy hunting

thanks man, i grabbed them the second that they were available. i nearly wet myself when i heard that there was some new Van Halen(albeit solo Eddie) available. The only van halen releases that I've been cogniscent of in my life was BOV 1, Van Halen III and Best of Both Worlds...yeah its sad...i became a fan during the III tour and promptly have been cr@pped on by the band and by eddie van halen ever since.
