So any suggestions appreciated please.
Cheers
Anthony.

Or, if you're a real stickler for quality:

Cheers buddy. I went for a whole tele upgrade kit from the rsguitarwork site. :) Just have to wait a few weeks till it gets shipped!
-
Oof, not cheap! I'd be interested to know how much of an improvement you get! :D

I just ordered a ton of pots and capacitors from them. I am upgrading a couple of LP's and adding them to a Tele and 2 strats. I am also trying the Oil Filled capacitor that they are offering.
-
There are some CTS pots in the BKP shop as well. ;)
-
When I got my RY BKPs installed a couple of months back I got a complete wiring harness from RS Guitarworks and the Superpots + Musicap capacitors are very good quality.
-
I've installed the kit. Seems fantastic. Does exactly what you'd want the volume and tone to do without sacrificing tone. Might need to take another look at the wiring though as i'm getting a tiny hum when im not touching anything metal. Does anyone know what this is?

grounding
-
So what connections needs a look at?
-
if it's a tiny hum remember that your tele has single coil pickups, which will tend to hum, and when you touch the strings it's actually yourself that's being grounded. the human body produces a lot of interference which will be picked up by the, er, pickups. this interference is sent to ground when you touch the guitar's metal parts.
-
The hum wasnt there before I changed the pots though. And its not single coil hum either. I've heard this kind of noise from older guitars which also goes away when you touch metal.
