i was wondering if anyone can help shed some light onto what the gibson pickup is in the bridge it is slightly thinner than a normal humbucker and is all black and has a gibson logo in the centre also it uses 4 screws to mount it.

heres a close up pic of the pickup

It looks like the pickup from a Grabber bass! I actually don't think I ever saw any other Gibson pickup with 4 screws.  The L6-S used to have Black plastic pickups too, but they had a wierd 3 screw system (the third screw was on the long side of the pickup).

It's awesome, i don't use it for brutal black metal or death metal but i find it great for Metallica Master of Puppets kinda sound with my laney.
Great for thrash/death/melodic/even 80's metal i have found, it's just a great metal pickup, can't really go wrong with it.

is the guitar that you have it in solid mahogany? and can you record some metallica/megadeth style clips for me?

It is all mahogany body and neck.
I could record clips but i'd rather wait til i get a mic as i cannot work with this shitety excuse for a tool that is the Line 6 Toneport, terrible tones and sounds, when i get a mic which should be quite soon i'll try and do you some Laney riffage!
