well that is what Matt Bellamy uses himself!
I'm not very familiar with wolfmother, but i believe they have a p90 sound that the MQ will do nicely.

Matt Belamy uses Nailbombs last I read - might have some guitars with P90s in the neck as I seem to recall.

Wolfmother have a TOTALLY different tone imo, I don't see how you can lump them together and say you want a Muse/Wolfmother tone - they're too different.

From what I've read in interview, the Wolfmother guy uses SGs with stock pickups (looked to be an 80s SG so they will be Gibson Dirty Finger pickups)

The Wolfmother guy also uses a vintage Tonebender fuzz for his dirty tones.  Matt Belamy seems to use a Fuzz Factory.

Hope that helps.

Wolfmother's guitarist uses a '73 SG with stock pickups and also a 335.  When I went to see Muse a few months ago Matthew B was using a MQ in both the neck and bridge.  I would either go for a set of MQs or a MQ neck with a Stormy Monday bridge.

He has one guitar with a MQ set and one with a Nailbomb bridge and MQ neck. He also has one with two P90's wired together to form a humbucker but I'm not sure if they are BKPs. I messaged tim a while ago. Infact I'll look that up and edit this post.

EDIT: Its not their anymore. I remember tim said he installed some MQ's, Nailbombs, and a Miracle Man, but I have seen and heard all of Matts guitars and I did not hear a MM. The new albums guitar tone is shite watered down so I could not tell if he used one in the studio.

personally i'd use a black dog for the wolfmother sound, as they seem to have a fairly led zep-ish sound

The guy from Wolfmother uses Orange amps and a fuzz, so it's pretty bassy and fuzzy.  It'll depend on what amp you're using as to whether you can replicate a similar sound.  He uses a 70's SG as stated earlier with the fairly hot pickups that were fitted around that time.

It depends what guitar you're using, but an SG with MQs would cover it  :D

If memory serves me right, Matt has Mule, Nailbomb and Mississippi Queen BKP's. The last time I saw Muse live was August 2006 at Meadow Bank in Edinburgh, and his was playing almost exclusively P90's and humbucker sized P90's (ie the Mississippi Queens) that day.

I know matt bellamy uses nailbombs (at least 3 guitars, maybe 4) and mqs (2 guitars I think), and has one guitar with two p90s in as od-black_fire said.  not sure about the mules although I'm not doubting you.  what I do know is that they're custom wound for him, I'd imagine they're slightly hotter than the normal ones
