so i thought my "new amp" idea through, along with some input from you guys and a couple mates opinions, and i decided that considering i'm going to uni in a couple months (grade's permitting) that i don't need a new amp at all, except maybe an epi valve jr (which i'll get when i find out what grades i have)
so.... as for plan b
i've been looking at a couple of new guitars (these are just new prices btw, not looked them up on ebay yet)
Ibanez AS103SM (new spalted maple version) (http://www.guitarvillage.co.uk/product-detail.asp?id=4552&catid=6&manid=48&quantity=1&product=Ibanez+AS103SM%2DNT+Artcore+Custom+Limited+Edition%2C+Natural%2C+New%2C+Inc%2E+Case)(£529)
Ibanez S470 (http://www.guitarvillage.co.uk/product-detail.asp?id=2554&catid=3&manid=48&quantity=1&product=Ibanez+S470IB%2C+Ice+Blue%2C+New) (£359)
Ibanez S520EX (http://www.guitarvillage.co.uk/product-detail.asp?id=2326&catid=3&manid=48&quantity=1&product=Ibanez+S520EX%2C+Black%2C+Ex+Show) (£389) [/list:u]
and judging by how often i change my mind, i'm sure this list will change before i've even finished writing this post
anybody own any of these, or have any particular thoughts on them? or does anybody use the ZP trem system???
cheers
James

-
that would be a problem then, as i already have a les paul, and they're kinda the same thing (HH, with a hardtail bridge)
-

good luck with your search tho
-

Maverick F1 would seem to be what you're after

hmmm.... *looks up maverick F1's*
...
if it weren't for the position of the p/up selector and the weird rolly-thingy's for the vol. etc. then i'd probably add one to the list
-
I always love how conservative guitarists are  I actually like that switch position, it's easy to reach without interrupting your playing but you're not going to hit it by accident.

i dunno, cos whenever i trem-pick, i always move my hand up to the fretboard, and i know i'd hit it if it were there

F1s are very nice guitars, and tbh, the switch doesn't get in the way.
The only downside people have with them is the rollers, but I personally think they're great, look sweet, and are practical.
Just don't try fitting a coil tap xD

ibanez S series are shredmonsters. Very fast guitar to play on, lightweight, and thin bodied. I recommend.
-
If they're good enough for Herman, they're good enough for most people :p

Also check out the S320 (£299)

Just like the S470, just without the annoying middle pickup and with a much cooler black finish. I bought one recently and it's awesome.

instead of the f1, go for the f3 just better in every way and if you go to the right shop you can get one for a good price

I find the middle pickup very annoying on any guitar. I just keep hitting them with my pick.
-
I never get this, everyone goes on about how they effortlessly play pinch harmonics and then complain that they hit the middle pickup all the time, which would imply that you're showing way too much pick to do the former  The bridge pickup is usually set highest, and no-one complains about hitting that when doing palm muted rhythms.
-
I dont have problems with pinching either but I hit the side of the middle pup when I play chords I think. Cant remember too well coz I dont use any guitars with middle pups. I guess my picking action is wrong coz Im self taught.

I don't like the neck on those - fatter and with a stickier finish than the F1. If you can get hold of an older F1 second hand you have a great guitar for a good price. alternatively you could find the Streetfighter and it's recent reissues, which are the premium model. I assume that you're after a stratty shape as opposed to the BCRich inspired wonder of the X body. only problem with the X is the size of the body - it's massive and very hard to find a case that fits it.
