Hi all. My friend is selling his under 1 year used Ebony Gibson SG Special, (selling new for $950) for $300. Its in great condition and I've actually played it many times and was there when he purchased it. For $300 I think it's a great deal. However, I have a custom Carvin dc 727 coming in 2 months so I am not sure how much I need another guitar (I only have a Strat right now). I have been hearing mixed things about the Specials, but sometimes people are mixing talking about the cheaper Faded Specials. Anyhow, would this guitar be worth throwing in a set of War Pigs? If I end up getting this guitar I am going to set it up in C# Standard and play some Sabbath stuff and other types of metal and rock. Once again, the guitar is not even a year used, selling for $300, and I've played it and think its pretty good. The pickups will actually cost more than the guitar, somewhere around $400. All input is appreciated. Thanks. -K

I think it'd be a missed oportunity if you get that SG go at such a low price. A set of Warpigs tuned to C will be EVIL!!!

if you've played the guitar and like it, don't worry about hearsay from other people. one man's favourite axe is another's firewood!
and $300!!?? over here you'd barely get a yamaha pacifica for that!! go for it immediately!

dude if you dont want it i'll have it....

If I saw one of those for $300 I would buy it without thinking.

2 of my guitars were bought in similar circumstances-I would say take the opportunity.

ya i was def on the buy side of this before even posting, but I like thinking things through thoroughly. My friend is not on crack. GC offered him $300 for the guitar and he is lazy and doesn't want to take the effort in selling it for more. So i told him I'd buy it recently and he agreed. Also, he is pretty rich so he doesn't care much about the extra cash he could make selling it for more. Plus my bday is coming up (well not really, its in June) so he might even lower the price. Even better, his dad is still alive in the WPT LA Poker Classic (down to 15 now, 2.4 M for 1st) and my friend said if his dad wins I get the guitar free.

dude, if your friend buys stuff and then sells it this cheap, have him buy a gibson explorer (classic white) and then not like it and sell it to you and then ill buy it from you for $500
and if youre really nice, i might even let you play it :P

^Hahaha he doesn't like those style guitars so there is no way in hell I can convince him to buy it.
