Hey Fellaz:
I have a 1981 Gibson Flying V that I want to put new pickups in. The body is mahogany and Tim recommended the Miracle Man to compensate for the loss of string vibration because of the wings of the V. After hearing the Nailbomb Painkiller and Cold Sweat clips, I don't know what I want now...
I have a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier as well as a Marshall JMP-1 preamp / Dual Monobloc EL34 100/100 setup (I play the Boogie in the band I'm in now) with a standard rectifier cabinet with V30s. I dig old metal (Rhoads, Sykes, VH) as well as early thrash. Will the Nailbombs work well in this guitar or am I better off with the Miracle Man? (Is it possible to get a Miracle Man with Alnico V magnets?)
---opinions here are welcome especially from guys with similar guitar/amp rigs--
Thanks!

i consider myself a bit of a tone novice, and dont normally reply 'what pickup' messages for that reason. but i feel i can add a little something this time...
do you have dirty fingers in that V? i personally really like the tone of dirty fingers in a V.
the "cold sweat" is meant to be an interpretation of the old Dirty Fingers. so depending on what you have fitted at the moment, maybe you should steer away from the cold sweat if you have dirty fingers want something every different. i'd personally try cold sweats, but i'm bias (based on my dirty fingers love) and tim recommends something different which of course carries alot of weight.
i have a selection of flying vs, a marshall JMP50 master volume amp and a g12h/v30 cab. love old skool metal sort of tones too. hope you find something that suits.

Right now, I have an old Bill Lawrence pickup that I put in back in the '80's. I don't remember what was originally in there (but I still have it somewhere in my gear closet).
Will the CS be enough to drive the Rectifier and the Marshall JMP-1 preamp (needs a tad more gain on that one)?

Yep, the CS has loads of toneful gain and drives any amp!
