I've been trawling Ebay for the last 3 or 4 months and nothing has come up. Does anyone know of a site/shop that may have one of these or is likely to? I don't even know if they were sold in the UK as I haven't seen any of the VH range or the SS (predecessor) come up at all on ebay or on UK sites. Made towards the end of the 80's/ early 90's. Came in Head or 2x12 combo form. Any help would be appreciated. I've got to the point that I'd even get rid of my JCM900 which I've just splurged a load of cash on to get one of these.

Hi gorath23.
You can try:
30th Street Guitars in NYC; they have an excellent vintage selection
Elderly Instruments; http://www.elderly.com/
No Ampeg here, but great prices on vintage amps: http://www.toneheaven.ndirect.co.uk/

Thanks for the tips, but I really need UK only places. Most US dealers won't ship something as heavy as that and even in head form its about $100 dollers shipping, which is preferable but not perfect.

how about calling the UK distributor for Ampeg? - they should be able to point you in the right direction.
also, stay clear of 'Toneheaven' - there is a LONG list of people that guy has ripped off. Unsurprisingly, he only deals with people overseas (though he's based in the UK) - why do you think that is?
Seriously, do a search on the name Marcus Hardy (the guy that runs/ran it) for some horror stories.

Elderly rocks, bought my viper there :P

Yeah I just checked Elderly and they don't ship used amps anymore, so thats a no-no. Any others? I'm probably taking a trip up to Denmark Street (London) in the next couple of weeks but I wouldn't mind some other sites to try.

I'm pretty sure (95%), that your search for a VH-140C in Denmark St. will prove fruitless, i've never seen one there... although one of the shops has an ENGL Invader now :) The orange 2nd hand shop (Andys?), isn't great, the main guy in there pointed me to Soho Soundhouse when i asked if he had an ADA MP-1! Nevertheless, there's always new stuff around there :)
