At least that's what I used to think, I had a pair of Rios, a Texas neck and a BBQ bridge, in my guitar they were the be all and end all, nothing can sound better. I then decided to find out what all the fuss was about with the BKP, My guitar was hand made, by a friend of Tim's, (Graham Pollard)
He can't praise the BKP enough, yeah yeah, I thought, anyway, I bought a pair of Stormy Mondays on eBay, (I am a poor guitarist) got them at a GREAT price, reluctantly took my beloved Rios out, stormies in, and I am TOTALLY hooked, what a great sounding pup, the 'hype' is all TRUE.
I play blues/blues rock/country jazz styles, the stormies suit them all.
I apologise for being a cynic all these years, believe the hype.

Many thanks, I should have introduced myself earlier. Been coming here for a while, mostly for research. :)

Hello, and thanks for the welcome, as soon as I can, I will get some soundclips, stormy soundclips seem few and far between.

I've always wondered how stormy mondays would work under high gain situations...

Although I play blues/blues rock, HIGH gain, is not my thing, I would think they would stand up well, with my pedals, a MI Audio Blueboy deluxe, that can do the fuzz thing as well as GREAT overdrive, and a Keeley BD2 phat mod, the pickups seem to cope very well, having said that, I have yet to get them out to gig, that will be Friday, but at home volume, and with the pedals maxed out, so that I can do my guitar god bit, they sound, well, great, very well balanced and they keep the their defination,

Oh, just a quick question, I have discovered a Gibson 300K volume pot, actually, it reads as 321K, at the moment there is a 500K cheapo in the guitar, what would the effect be if I put in the Gibbo?
Thanks in advance,
Jon

It would make it sound darker. I would not recommend it unless you find the Gibson too harsh at the moment.
Standard is 250KO in a Strat and 500KOhm in a Gibson. Sometimes 300KO are used for a jazzy tone ...
