I was browsing that forum when I found that :

It seems some of them don't like custom covers hehe
-
A pox on their opinions.
My Warpigs are damn clever, no doubt about it :)
-
I quite like the Warpig cover myself, but the guitar must have the same attitude  like that Giger RG from the gallery :

I drool every time

I really like the BKP cover options, but I'm obsessive about having all matching hardware so I stick to chrome or nickel.
I'd love burnt chrome covers if I could get burnt chrome hardware though...

I played that guitar!! I didnt like the neck though

how can they call the Warpig cover retarded???????
i love it, but i'm more tempted by SUPERSLASHED black metal covers.....

why would you care what they look like? if they sound and play well, that's what I care about. Though, if dodgy 80's-coloured bobbins became available, I might change my mind.

Answered your own question there, Dave.
But seriously, it's a £200 investment - it may be a secondary consideration, but I definitely care what they look like.
-
^ yeah, well I mean if they look like an old lada I mightn't be too interested, lol. But far as I'm concerned (excepting fluorescent-coloured ones, of course), standard-looking pickups are pretty nice as they are. Maybe I'm just boring...
EDIT: just to clarify, as that previous post might have been ambiguous, I'm all for 80's fluorescent pickups being introduced.

Dont see what all the fuss is about as there are no covers for 7 string pickups anyway!!!
So rather pointless as a discussion
-
HA! Pwned
And, just to preach to the choir, its not the look, its the sound. But I love the looks BK offers anyway. That said, I have chrome, uncovered and camo sets and one black pickup so its mostly normal for me.
The black one is paired with a chrome pickup in an epi LP goldtop: it looks awfull! But it sounds great so I couldnt give a fuck.

I think you'd be suprised by how well cammo, battle scarred, or burnt pickups will blend in with your guitars, regardless of hardware.
Of course, I'm not really one to talk ...

The thread is in the "Extended Range Guitars" section wich strangely include baritone 6 string :D

I think we'll have to agree to disagree, Ben.
Our musical tastes are pretty similar but our tastes in guitars.... aren't. I like your Rising Sun Strat - but if it was mine I'd go all boring-assed and put on a black scratchplate, a volume and [whisper]a tone control[/whisper].
-
^ I heard that! You said tone control!
I mean, sheesh ... a volume control is bad enuff!! PDT_008
-
Controls are for the lose!
-
Controls are for..... control.

I have tone controls on all my guitars (except the eggle, it has some strange blend control that seems to split the buckers), and I never use them. Ironically, the eggle is the one that might actually benefit from one, lol- but the others I just whack up full... trying to gather up the confidence to remove them, lol.
-
I think I'm gonna remove the tone control on my Charvel and move the volume pot to that position, I always end up nudging it where it is now. It wont look as good though I guess :(
-
Hooray for Mavericks!

Thats the biggest complaint I have about my Charvel, the volume is too close to my picking hand. I did what you described above but the aesthetics really got to me so I put it back as was and I changed the metal domed knobs to plastic strat style and that's a better compromise.

Hooray for Mavericks!
LOL ... care to explain that one?! PDT_008
-
Controls don't get in the way :p

it's that d91037501whatever dude
he slags off everything on other forums. esp forum, sevenstring.. i think he;s even on harmony central. on the duncan forum he doesnt dare to say anything cos he knows people that know their shite will rip him a new one
-
^ there is always gonna be someone like that. They just do it for the attention me thinks.
Another thing, 80's coloured pickups would be cool!
