Warpigs! I had to turn down the gain on all my preset tones after I got mine :) When you absolutely have to kill every last mf in the room ...
Ceramic or Alnico in the bridge dude?
-
Ceramic
-
you'll have to tell me how the warpig neck sounds like. :p
I still have not heard anyone say anything about it

i think it's a MM neck with allen screws :?
-
Wouldn't that be a bit bright for matching with a warpig?

Meh, I don't own a Warpig, either. PDT_008

In soviet Russia, Warpig owns YOU!
And everywhere else, too

I have a neck Warpig in an SG.
Think Smashing Pumpkins on Mellon Collie, Bullets with Butterfly Wings but without needing to have a bass player :) It has lots of Bass but doesn't let the bass overwhelm everthing else. A perfect heavy clean(ish) sound, also superb for mids-heavy blues rock, something like Clapton's tone on Sunshine of Your Love. I'd sum it up by saying "it growls". Growls like an angry bear
In fact its so good that I no longer listen to records and think "I wish my clean tone was that heavy" ... I now think "HAH, if only they'd used a neck Warpig their sound would be as good as mine" :)
-
Can it chug chug chug?
-
Can it chug chug chug?
i always though the bridge was for that....... i only use neck for cleans and smooth leads.
-
Really?
I've allways taken the more simple approach of neck for rhythm, bridge for lead.

REALLY?
i find the neck to have not enough highs, not enough output compared to the bridge, and has a more rounded tone that suits lead perfectly. the bridge has more of an aggressive edge to it. if you want to get a vintage rhythm tone, the neck would be perfect IMO.

ok guys they arrived today.
the finish isn't quite as different as i had hoped due to the gauge of metal making the cover. in short it looks like a conventional WP but with deeper cuts around the edges.
i've taken some pics and will post them as soon as i have them pictured installed.
-
cool!
lets see!!!!!!!!
when are you going to get them installed? :?:
-
ASAP
-
The buggers don't fit and i have been given the wrong kind of screws and tabs to direct-mount it

unlucky dude....... did you ask for the correct ones?
-
It's not their fault they don't fit but sending the wrong fittings is not easy to forgive when I asked specifically for the correct ones. Having said that the customer service at BKP is excellent and they are always happy to answer your queries however stupid and insignificant they may seem. I can only assume it was an administrative thing where there was a huge number of orders coming through and it only took four days to arrive - very impressive as it was made to order. As a worst case scenario the problem with the tabs can be rectified and I can use the screws form the previous set along with the foam.
It is a big hassle though and I can only hope that they are absolutely what I was looking for.
-
OK Tim comes through again and it turns out I just need to buy four new screws and my problems are over. First class! PDT_003
-
Why not use the screws on the original pickups?
-
Excellent!
Glad things worked out for you!
I'm absolutly in love with my Mules!
-
Why not use the screws on the original pickups?
They are about twice as long as the original ones and are made of an alloy which will react with the wood and rot away. Plus it has a completely different thread.
-
React with the wood and make it rot away???? WHA???? :?
plus pictures?
-
If you use certain alloys to make screws they can react with the wood and cause either the wood to rot or the screw in question to corrode and become useless.

wouldn't that have happened already with the original pickups in?????
-
different alloy.

different alloy.
ah.
-
And they were painted black - always a sign of quality.
Except in the case of minstrel acts...
-

Don't look at me, I don't have a minstrel fetish.
-
show us pixs!
-

I asked for 'bullet marks' which they seem to have interpreted as 'ricochets' and just hit it a bit more with a grinder.
It still looks good though.
-
hmmm the bullet marks thing would have been sweet
-
Ask them to send you another cover.
-
Sorry, internet's been down.
Just as an update I should be able to pick my guitar up in the next few days.
