Any of you guys know whether Tim actually handles each individual pickup, cause i wanted to order some Rebel Yells or possibly Pigs (maybe even both) and it would be so cool to think he's handled them, there might even be some skin cells on them!! ?But seriously does he touch them?
-
That has to be the single oddest question I've ever seen.
Personally I dunno, but I'm sure someone will tell you soon. Welcome to the boards dude :drink:
-
Yes - he blesses each one before it leaves
-
wtf?
:?
He makes quite a chunk of them. All of the single coils, as I recall. That do ya?
-
Yeah but don't you think it would be so coll if he'd like handles the very pick-ups in your guitar, i mean that's like WOW! I only said about the skin cells cause then you could make a clone of him using the cells.

This has to be the most bizarre thread ever!!!
Tim doesn't handle all the pickups, no. He's been away with Iced Earth for a couple of weeks and you're not telling me that production stopped while they wait for his magic hand sweat???
-
If you request it, he may give them a little kiss before they go in the box to be sent
-

Single coils are made by Ray. :)

+1
This is borderline creepy ...

Actually, Tim's back in the UK now, winding pickups like a demon!
-
Oh shite yeah. iced earth! he's the new tech for them isnt he! That should be kool for him. I actually got the privelage of going to the last music live, i saw the bkp stand, i couldnt get over how small Tim actually was, at least he'll fit into the tour bus easily being pint sized an all!
-
Oh shitee yeah. iced earth! he's the new tech for them isnt he!
Not tech, lead guitarist.
i couldnt get over how small Tim actually was
Were you expecting a giant or something? He's not exactly Mini-Me. :?
-
Well fair dues to him of he think he can manage a guitar :D no he's not mini me but neither is he very big. I had know idea he was the new guitarist, at least he can be worse then there last one (i hope)
-
*cant not can
-
Is this thread a joke?
I smell chain pulling going on ...
-
no, i'm just new and ignorant i suppose
-
out of interest......what does chain pulling smell like exactly lol!
-

Single coils are made by Ray. :)
I'm fairly sure, not utterly, but quite, that Tim posted on here that he makes the single coils (before playing in Iced Earth, that is).
-
So what's the crack with Iced Earth then? Twightlight Odyssey is the guitarist and so (now) is Tim.
I thought Tim lived in Falmouth and TO was somewhere New York like? Maybe I've just confused myself
-
LOL, you did.
Tim 'commutes' to the US for IE. I have been, and am still, in one band, and that's my namesake: Twilight Odyssey \m/
-
Possibly, there is an going to be an attempt to clone Tim, from any DNA left on the pickups !
Rob...
-
Whoops, just learned that Ray does Tele & P90s, not single coils!
-
For folks coming to this thread late and thinking WTF
The original poster was trying to say that getting a pickup from BKP that has been personally would by Tim would make it extra cool!!
Tim does still wind a fair number/majority of the pickups, along with Ray and Chris (previously some were made by Steve as well)
So whilst Tim does have a lot on his plate with running the business, being lead guitarist for Iced Earth, chat to all of us on the phone & finding time for his family (and being an inspiration for Sambo's hair fan club), he does still make lots of pickups.
But I would say buy lots of pickups now while the company is young and you will be able to say in years to come that you were a user way before everybody else came along in their millions
-
This thread made me smile. I know what the original post was getting at though-to say that Tim wound the pickups in my Strats is a fine thing indeed. As far as I am concerned, Tim is a genius and his size is nothing to do with stature (and no sniggering and cracking size jokes at the back).
-
(and no sniggering and cracking size jokes at the back).
Do you mean like "He may be small but he's got great vibrato"
In reference to playing guitar I always liked - "It's not how fast you can play but what you can make it say"
-
How many of the pickups do you think he does make then, i was hoping if i ordered some they would be made by him specifically
-
OK, let's clear this one up.
On the whole I'm involved with pretty much everything that goes on in our workshops from winding and making pickups through to answering the phone. Occasionally I have time out to see my family and ................sleep!
Who does what?
Well there are 4 ouf us winding full time here and everyone has the ability to make anything in our range however what often happens is orders get divided up between us to best optimise time. For instance, on the whole I wind all the Strat sets, Ray the Tele sets, Chris P90s and so on although everyone has to handle humbuckers along side that as there's always so many to do. That doesn't mean it's written in stone though, a few days ago I seemed to be doing MQs and 7 strings all day, Chris Strat coils and John humbuckers. It really depends on what's on the order boards.
At the end of the day most pickups go through my hands albeit in manufacture or final inspection. It's certainly not a one man show here and everyone has to be totally hands on so to answer you original question, there's a very high likelihood of me handling your RY set, if not actually making it myself too. As for DNA.....................

Thats awesome, thanks for that! I was looking through a Total Guitar mag the other day and theres an absolutely killer BKP advert in there, its a full page spread, just wondering who made it?, its so kool!
I saw a couple of other brilliant BKP adds in some of the other guitar magazines as well, there all really impressive.
-
Can anyone shed any light on my question? im only interested as i did graphic design at college so i was just wondering.

it gives me confidence that the head of the company does quality control on most of the products
