Hello guys i need some info for my new amp.
right now i have a mesa boogie dc-5 amp but i need something more than
that.
lets say something real .......I mean that my amp is a point to point amp
but the drive that offers doesnt seems to be real.
last week i heard some heads and amps with my TOKAI LS-180
with bareknuckles pickups ( Abraxas set )
1.Orange rockerverb 50. They say it is a good amp but i think i have a better sound with my mesa boogie ......... i dont mean more gain but
better quality.
2.i heard a framus ruby riot 30w class a
i think it was more real sounding amplifier.
3.mesa boogie F-50 no still dont hear what i want to hear
i think my mesa is still better.
4.VHT pitbull 30 watt combo amp.........shite iwant that sound......really warm sound and reall drive .when isay real i mean REALL
The clean chanell wasnt so good but the drive was HEAVEN AND HELL !!!
5.Diezel Einstein 60watt head through a 2X12 vht cabinet ....nice sound tons of punch but guys this one is metal fans not so for me
6.VHT deliverance head 60 watt ..............i really dont know about it because it has limited options i mean that you cannot set different tremble midle and bass settings for clean and drive channel .......... VHT products offers very warm sound
7.Listen carefully now i just saw some videos from rivera amplifiers
i am interesting for rivera fandago ..........sound good.
Now i need also an honest advise for what is better
There are two options:
1. point to point amplifier (handwired)
2. pcb board amplifierd
is there a big sound difference........does the HANDWIRED amps sounds better ..... i mean is this the reall sound ?.
My guitars:
1.tokai ls 180
2.fender srv
3.mayones setius lizard pro
My amp:
Mesa boogie dc-5.
Sorry for my english.

There was a handwire discussion a couple of months ago (I will try and hunt the thread out later).
Basically a well designed and built PCB amp should present no quality issues, Point to Point (to me) allows for easier repairs and mods (if you are gigging a lot that could e a huge issue in itself).
What tones are you looking for, music styles & that sort of stuff. I assume from those you mentioned that you are looking for a high end amp
Bogner, Diezel & Soldano all do quality items, also have a look at http://www.roccaforteamps.com/index.htm
Dare I say it even Engl, Marshall & Laney have been known do the odd tolerable amp (going to have to go into hiding that statement)
Mesa do a multitude of amps these days, and cover more tones than they used to.

i sold my dual caliber last yr...upped it to a boogie mark IV-no doubt KILLER-check out the boogieboard-the IV is nasty-the dc was smooooth, but i couldnt get as metal as I wanted-the IV rules-it is everything I wanted the dc to be-the lead channel is one of the best period-no need for any od/dist pedal at all-and it is leeeeooouuud!find em for 1200 and it is worth it-it runs in simulclass, and that is what you are missing, my friend-6l6's and el34's-should seriously check into it

Kilby and shaman thanks for your answers
I really like the bogner shiva amp and some roccaforte too
but they are overpriced or they have a very big price for me
and the bigest problem is that there is no dealer in greece
so i cannot play them and test them but i heard some sound samples
at the bogner site and i have to say that bogner shiva amp rules.
As for the thread for the p2p and pcb amps i read it last night.
O.k now i know about the difference.
Also i like the marshall amps gain channel but not the clear one
They say that RIVERA has a good combination amps with fenderish clear
channel and Marshall drive channel.
I am not going to play heavy metal....... i want a good clear sound
and a warm fat drive..like bogner shiva.

I just heard some Roccaforte clips and they sound similiar to
Marshall ... am i right ? (High gain 100)
They have that bright and tremble sound that marshall amps makes.
maybe i am wrong.

cool...I love the soldano amps as well--might want to put them on your list-check out warren haynes of govt mule for some cool soldano sounds

Why don't you try and find a used Bognor Shiva if that's the sound you like? That will save you a few Euros :)

I want to TRY before buy but .......... a used shiva combo sounds good.
Is there any other amp sounds like bognres ?
I am curious about the RIVERA amps.
I will test them this week.

all i know about the point to point versus pcb argument is that rarely (if ever) will you find two amps with the exact same components, one built PCB and the other point to point, to compare the tones. It could be something else in one or the other which is changing the tone, not the fact it's PCB or PTP. EDIT: what I mean is, you won't find an SLO100 that's PCB, and then find another that's PTP so you can compare the two. If you compare a cornford to an SLO, you're comparing the cornford circuit to the SLO circuit, not the fact that one's PTP and the other is PCB.
I think.
and rob, shame on you for down-talking engls.

So there are some good quality p2p and pcb amps...........
and some bad quality p2p and pcb amps.
You mean guys here that the real tone could come from a p2p or pcb
amp.
Simple
Anyway the best amp i have already tried until now is the vht pitbull
30 watt combo amplifier ( warm sound and very tight tone )
I hope rivera be the next good sounding amp........as for the bogner shiva
i will god to send me in U.S.A at my next life so i will have the chance to
try many good amps and guitars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like my country ( hellas ) but we dont have many options here or we
have to pay high prices to buy something just good. :(
