Hey guys
I think I'm decided on building my own rack setup. I think its going to be based around the ADA MP1 three tube Ultra Mod. Basically I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a rack effects unit with built in cabinet emulation?
As far as effects go I'm just after Reverb Chorus and Delay I don't really care about anything else.
My aim is to build this up over a period of time. I know its gonna cost an arm and a leg but no amps really appeal to me.

TC electrinic released the G-sharp, which is quite cheap and has only reverbs, delays and few modulation effects. but it doesn't have cabinet emulation.
the Rocktron Xpression has a direct recording out with speaker simulation, but has a very annoying blue light that can't be stopped from flicking :(

ADA have the Microcab which is supposed to do great speaker emulation. Also look at the Rocktron Intellifex for your effects unit.

For FX I recently got the Lexicon MX200 - it's really cheap but sounds awesome - thick, luxurious Lexicon reverbs and delays at 200 EUR!
For speaker sim I like most the Palmer Junction I have. Being a passive unit, it depends on what kind of level your preamp produces, it actually sounds best at very low set power amp outs or really cranked preamp outs.

For some reason I've never been happy with a rack setup; I don't know why, as I had a really good rack, too.
Anyway, I agree with the Lexicon for effects. If you can find an MPX-1, that would be great. Eventide H-3000 or Orville are great for rack effects, too.

I second the ADA Microcab, you should be able to pick one of them up pretty cheaply, I saw one in my local Soundcontrol for £25 a few months back, really wish I'd grabbed it.
You could also go with the Pod XTPro, I believe that has all the speaker and cab emulations you'd need, though the effects won't be quite as good as some of the other processors out there.

I rate the ADA MP1 3TM (3 Tube Mod) a lot
I use it alongside my Soldano and ENGL preamps
I have an ADA Microcab 2 which can be used with the output of a poweramp, but with speakers plugged in (not a power-soak - although the ADADepot guys have a mod that makes it into a "Monstercab" which can powersoak up to 100W as well as speaker emulation)
the Marshall SE100 is supposed to be good as well and was designed by THD apparently

Yup - got a couple of Pirhana preamps (very good) , and to be fair one is going spare - had home & workshop use only!
Has a speaker simulated output which is pretty ok

Just a warning for if you do go with the Piranha, you may have to be quite patient with it.
The EQ seems to act a lot differently to most amps out there and it can take some who are used to dealing with a standard head and cab setup a while to dial in a sound they like.
I've seen loads of people bash the Piranha simply because they didn't put in the time to figure out how the eq really works.
Also the Hughes & Kettner Access has a couple of recording outs which use the same circuitry as there Red Box speaker sims, so you could check one of those out if can find one. They're quite rare, but an awesome preamp, love mine. :D
