Title: Tele-90
Post by: El Schmucko on March 23, 2007, 05:24:00 PM
Hi people!
Any way of winding a tele bridge pup to get a p-90 sound out of it?
I love my tele, but I hate the damn anemic pups!!!

To get a P-90 sound from a tele pickup you would need to replace the pole pieces with studs and put 2 magnets underneath (besides winding with 10,000 turns!).   Steel pole'd tele pickups are not something that BK does, the Piledriver is not a P-90 sound, but it is a great pickup for beefing up a tele.

Allright
Seems I should take a look at the piledriver then. Is it insanely overwound?

at 14.3k in the bridge it's not ridiculous. Actually a recreation of a vintage Fender Esquire pickup; I've never played one but i've heard it really helps to thicken up a tele, and reacts well under high-gain settings. Also Esquires are notorious for being fantastically controllable with the volume control, so i guess if you roll it down it will clean up nicely, for more classic tele sounds should you crave them.
