haha!

now just got to hope its not a con... or that its not some horribly cr@p guitar despite its huge price... i didnt have time to research them much at all... but i can probably flog it on for a profit if thats the case anyway..

I doubt it is a con, he has a good reason for selling and knows the serial number, though his feedback is a bit dodgey.

mm indeed... we shall see.

actually the one doubt i had was that i thought i had seen the same listing as a DKMG earlier in the week... but then after a bit of googling realised those models had bolt-on instead of thru-necks... so hopefully that isnt the case.

yeah, any razorback is! all who look at it get taken aback completely!

i only intend to refinish the razorback, and that's when i've bought
1. a new amp
2. a couple of BKPs
it's gonna be a while...... i have almost no money  :)
Title: new guitar.
Post by: sambo on March 24, 2007, 08:29:29 PM
haha!

yer i agree, as nice as re-finishes are theyd come near the bottom on my gear/guitar-purchase list if i was using my head...

good luck with amp hunting by the way.... can be fun lol..

and i know whats its like to have no money... im gonna have to sell a LOT to fund this new beast.

ah, cool. I haven't actually tried any sl1's, but the sl3 is really nice- and the sl1 should be better. any of the USA jacksons I have tried were really nice guitars, if a little pricey... though you've avoided the "pricey" problem, so it should be all good. Maybe apart from the JB, lol.

^ garg. He did say if anyone offered £1000 odd he'd take it... I guess you can't blame him if he needs the money, but it's annoying... :(

mm

well i see where hes coming from...

but hes breaking the law... he didnt just end the thing early... i won... and then he refused to let me pay/send the item....

which is CLEARLY stated in the policy ruling thing... in fact they give an example about guitars exactly the same as my situation...

so... dunno... ive reported it e.t.c..

i knew it wouldnt go smoothly as its just so cheap... but thats his fault for not putting a resevre e.t.c..

Post by: dave_mc on March 24, 2007, 10:34:11 PM
ah, I didn't realise that was against the rules (i've never used ebay, lol). I had heard something vaguely along those lines before, though. Since you're in the right, i hope you get the guitar. Might as well be someone in here who gets a good deal, lol.

:drink:

EDIT: though yeah, don't get your hopes up, lol. Possession is 9/10 of the law, unfortunately (in this case, anyway!)...
Title: new guitar.
Post by: sambo on March 24, 2007, 10:36:16 PM
haha, yer its against the rules.... just dont know if there is actually anything that can be done about it... especially if he sells the guitar to this otehr guy tonight...

we shall have to see. grrr.

Geeee,

If you like Ibanez have a look at the S Series (the Prestige versions are around that price)

Rob...

never really looked into ibanez' at all as there are just so many!

shall definitely have a look though, im open to pretty much anything at the mo.

s prestige eh.... googling now! cheers rob.
Title: new guitar.
Post by: dave_mc on March 24, 2007, 10:49:29 PM
prestige rg or s's, jackson sl3, they're both pretty nice. £700 isn't too far off what you could get a custom legra or similar for (i think, don't quote me on it, lol), if you don't need neck-thru construction or fancy cosmetics and everything flamed... plus there's a good chance you might want to switch pickups on any non-custom guitar you got, so that's worth considering too...

really up to you, though. It's normally a bad idea to buy just because you want to blow £700, lol, but then it's no fun being too sensible all the time either...

haha cheers dave.

mmm legra eh... veeeeeeeeeeeeery interesting! lol

frills dont interest me at all... never have done really...

i just feel like i really know what i want out of a guitar now... ive got my jackson, and the gibson... and even though i like em both, and the jackson was only recent.... i just feel like selling them both and getting one crackkking guitar could serve me better....

-no floyd
-body wood- preffferably mahogany but not TOO choosey
-humbuckers, will settle for H-S-H or H-S-S but H-H is optimal
-jackson scale length... think its 25"...?
-no huge carving like on a traditional les paul... EURGH!
-full but flat neck... nothing wizardy in the slightest... i despise them... but not fat/round trad. Gibson...

and thats about it really...

jsut dont know where to start..... been looking at a lot of jackson superstrat, those MIJ signature les pauls... hmmm
Title: new guitar.
Post by: dave_mc on March 24, 2007, 11:04:09 PM
jackson scale is normally 25.5"... on the floydy ones, anyway. Not so sure about the hardtails... the hardtail king v is 24.75", if I remember correctly.
Title: new guitar.
Post by: sambo on March 24, 2007, 11:04:58 PM
ah yer your probably right.

maybe a custom would be the way to go...

ugh! i hate being involved with guitars some times.

^ hehe, nah, guitars are awesome. but i know what you mean about the amount of choice...
Title: new guitar.
Post by: sambo on March 24, 2007, 11:11:47 PM
lol precisely.... theres SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to choose from... ibanez just epitamise it all perfectly lol...

whats your favourite guitar that you own at the moment?
Title: new guitar.
Post by: dave_mc on March 24, 2007, 11:26:54 PM
^ heh, probably my eggle, but that doesn't have too much competition, as i never really clicked with my kramer, and my ibanez is out of action, lol.

I'm just in love, theres a PM on the way to ya

Also I meant to say (but I managed a sloppy cut & paste job instead and it was too late to edit)

Look at 2nd hand Peavey Wolfgangs (available in hardtail) and the Ernie Ball Axis models. The carved top Wolfies are lovely (is that word too feminine ?)

I really wouldn't get an SL3, they seem so plasticy when I play them, it's mostly the gloss they use on them I guess, but it really gets to me :<

Hello Sam, I hope you are well.A bet of a saga here.As you say, there is probably too much choice (.....drifts off into "when I was a lad etc etc..) but that "seller" had a horrendous "buy it now" price and as you say, if he sets no reserve then he can't complain when it goes for less. GAS eh? isn't it wonderful ? does it ever end? All I know is that when it is my time to go and I have strummed my last chord, I want a nice mahogany coffin with a flamed maple top but I would liked aged nickel hardware.

hahaha, good point, eggle is right up that street! though they have carved tops (most of 'em that i've seen, anyway). But other than that, yeah, they'd definitely be worth a look. Especially if you can get a good deal on NOS ones or prototypes.    EDIT: I guess the easiest way to describe them is "British PRS".

Also, Musicman guitars are extremely nice to add to what's already been said about them.

OK, cheaper than what you've said (although the RRP is about £600), but it fits your description and it's TRULY wonderful
http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7587
As we've discussed before, you could fully pimp it out and STILL be quids in.
Alternatively you could fork out twice as much for essentially the same guitar (I believe even made in the same factory) but with branded bells and whistles

mmmm very good point... when you first showed them to me i was well into them.

in fact i think i will be get a second guitar after this next one, as a kindaaa back-up but not just something thats gonna sit in a case 'just-in-case'.... i mean a proper, excellent value for money, playable guitar...

which is exactly those seem to be!

really wanna try one.... congrats by the way! that top really is stunning.
