Title: Painkiller in the bridge....??? in the neck?
Post by: rafe h on March 29, 2007, 03:17:43 PM
I just got my 2007 Gibson Flying V back from the shop (had a Kahler 2215 flatmount and string lock installed) and now I want to replace the stock humbuckers with some Bare Knuckles.

I know I want the Painkiller in the bridge, but not sure about the neck?  I need something good for haunting electric clean tones, so the Painkiller neck model is not on the list (I hear it's a scorcher).

any suggestions?

It is pretty hot.

What do you mean by "haunting"?  To my mind a haunting clean sound is one with cavernous reverb, long delay & very lush chorus

FWIW, I reckon Cold Sweat would be a good match with PK bridge to give you a decent clean option but not get totally overpowered by the PK...

heh  forgive the adjective :)

there's a few songs that have electric clean parts I fancy, like Judas Priest, Testament (Trial by Fire & Musical Death).  and the clean break in Master of Puppets, etc.
