Just wondering how far you guys can go with the covers and pickup design??
Could you do a leopard skin finish?
Tiger \ Zebra stipes?
A finish with stars on?
Different coloured metal covers (NOT painted on colours though) like blue\red etc (er... like those cool house keys which are made of blue metal for example)
Black pickups with white\gold engraving?
Plastic (glass?? lol) stained\frosted glass style covers?
Black pickups with cobweb style graphics\engraving?
Neon \ LED style bobbins instead of screws?
I could come up with more, but i think you get the idea of how 'custom' i could make a custom pickup if possible!!
Thanks 8)

We could get close to leopard/ tiger/zebra skin but it would have to be done in the Nailbomb/warpig colours. Same goes for stars! Although you could laser etch them on.
We could do different coloured metals, the keys you are referring to are coloured by chemical/electrical anodizing. So the same finish could be applied to covers.
The engraving on covers only comes in one colour, and that’s the colour of the metal underneath, usually nickel.
Glass covers could be made in theory, but would be extremely expensive to manufacture.
As for replacing the screws with led's. The pickup wouldn’t work because the screws are what direct the magnetic field towards the strings!

thanks :)
what kind of price would a coloured cover be?
i'm looking at a miracle man bridge pickup for a new project i'm designing to be built for me, and would like to get a covered pickup matching the body colour.. which is yet to be decided (i like the PRS 'blue matteo' colour personally).
I assume you could even roughly match the flamed\quilted pattern of the guitars finish by doing a coloured cover + the technique used to get the camo style effect to discolour it??

Im not sure if we would be able to get it done. I dont know anywhere that does it!
The closest that I could get to blue would be the heated chrome cover that I done a while back.
-
I think what would look pretty cool is like Plexiglass or something so you can see inside the pickup, like those old clear GameBoys

Those exist. You'll find them in the pickups section of this site:

hmm they dont look as good as I thought... Maybe thats just the red though? I was actually thinkin a whole Plexiglass cover like a metal cover, not individual covers like they were..

here it is.

Humm, didnt like it.
can it be done like the black metal covers?? but with Blue instead of black??
-
for that you would have to have them anodized, this is done by heating the chrome.

Hmm, I like some of the ideas in this thread :P I think I read that you can do covers without any screws on them so they look like EMG's, that right? And to what extent can you engrave things, for example, could you do small skull & crossbones' in the upper right corners? Is that the kind of things where you'd like me to send a picture of how I'd like the engraving to look and how much do ya think it would all cost? :D
-
custom engraving costs £25 per cover, you would need to supply us with a jpeg file of the picture, there would be a bit of a wait too, as we dont so it in the workshop.

Can you make an orange metal cover or cover with more orange in it than the burnt chrome occasionally has?
... for one of my Les Pauls ?

THREADNOMANCY!
Burn the witch!

That is probably the coolest Les paul I've ever seen.
Is that a metal flake finish or drum material (like gretsch sparkle jets)?
-
Thanks. It's orange metal flake. When I first saw it I was blown away.
I got from Bizarre Guitars/Vintage Vault Guitars in Reno, NV from Travis. Good dude....great price.

I know this is kinda off topic, but does anybody know will there ever be covers for 7 string versions?
