Post by: horsehead on March 31, 2007, 11:31:31 AM
OK I've an Epiphone les Paul Blacck Beauty with a pearly gates at bridge & a stock epiphone pickup at neck. Recomendations please for the neck pickup for playing rock, sountern rock, country please. I don't want to get amule as I'm gonna be putting them in my Tokai so I'd like a different sound.

ANyone...please....help

Keeping the PG at bridge?

In that case, or in any case, it has to be the Stormy Monday.

For (rock capable) clarity that will also sound clear and 'spanky' enough for country, I heartily recommend the Stormy Monday.

I have a set in an S.G. (have also tried them in a Les Paul ) - and they cleaned up enough to do those twangy Soul chords/riffs I needed. As you will hear in the 'Players' section, they can rock out too ...

They do sound sweet and warm in the treble, so perhaps someone might suggest the edgier Riff Raff or a P90 if you want more of a fat Telecaster type sound.

I'd put the PG in the neck - the extra treble will help out in the neck position to avoid a muddy tone.

I'd put a Mule in the bridge to match.

Yeah keeping that PG at the bridge. The stormy monday sounds like it could be the one, as long as I can whack it on & create some noise
