I saw your set-up pic & loved the look of the splawn, but what's it like? old marshall? New Bogners?
-
Splawn is THE modded Marshall tone from the 80s, but with higher resolution.
Rough mix of a new song's solo using the Splawn.

Right rhythm guitar = Strat w/Cold Sweat bridge through the Quick Rod in 2nd Gear. Left rhythm guitar = Schechter Classic w/Cold Sweat bridge through a Marshal TSL 2000. Lead guitar = ESP Kamikaze w/Miracle Man bridge pup through the Quick Rod in 3rd Gear.
There are a couple of other forum bros that have Splawns, too.

can you grasp that vintage tone from one though?

*lurk*
(nice playing and tone on that clip, by the way, ben)

bro I can tell you that the splawn absolutely rocks my face off every single time I fire that bad boy up. It is the marshall amp that marhsall amplification wish that they could build. Clear, articulate, responsive and tone for days...it really is the best amplifier that you could buy...

Yes, as long as it's a vintage MARSHALL tone!
1st gear is a modified plexi setting.
Hmmm ... I'm working on a Splawn walk-through right now for the Lynch Dojo. Maybe I'll post it here as well ...?
