I just have a quick question for you guys. How do you think a Rebel Yell bridge humbucker will sound in this guitar http://www.ibanez.com/eg/guitar.aspx?m=RGT42DX? In my old guitar it was very bright, and I noticed that this model RG was darker than the others probably because of the mahogany. I'm basically looking for a good rock tone and I'm looking at either the RGT or possibly a RG prestige. It'll be going through a Splawn Quick Rod if that helps. Thanks guys.

Bump because I need an answer.
Its either gonig to be an RGT or a prestige, but I need to know if my Rebel Yell will sound to bright in a basswood body or not.

no not at all - RYs sound GREAT in basswood bodies
EDIT: this is a neck-thru, in a neck thru it barely even matters what the body is made of. it's all about the neck wood, and that's maple . it'll be uber bright.

Well I played the RGT42 today and the RG1570 prestige model. Long story short I like the prestige better 8) . The only think I don't like is the color so I might try the new RG550 reissues. Either way I'm pretty set on the prestiges. Thanks for the help :D [/quote]

Where Billy Idol got the name from...
Rebel Yell is a brand of bourbon whiskey distilled and bottled at the Bernheim distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Rebel Yell is an 80 proof Kentucky straight bourbon - strong stuff
Billy saw one of the Rolling Stones (think it was Ronnie Wood) drinking from a bottle of it at a party and thought the name was cool.

I am going to resist being a smarta*se and explaining where the makers of a bourbon would have been inspired to got the name from-just look up the American civil war.

How do you think the RY will sound in a RG550 reissue? I'm partial to the Yellow but I am unsure because the last guitar I had the RY in it was way way to bright and the Black has a rosewood fingerboard, which makes the guitar sound darker I assume?
Also how do the reissues compare to new prestiges? I don't like the color too much on the prestiges so I'm looking at alternatives and the 550's look really cool . Sorry it seems I have so many questions!

Does anyone know if they are only going to make 1987 of the RG550s, or did they decide to mass produce them?
