Ok, I need to get rid of the HB-sized P90 in the bridge of my Tokai SG and I wanna get a good bucker in it. At the moment, I'm considering a Seymour Duncan Full Shred but of course always look elsewhere and see what else is on offer...
I generally prefer trebley (but not too shrill) pickups as I roll the treble off on my amp, crank the mids and don't have too much bass at all. I end up with a cutting, mid-heavy tone that balances pretty well really.
I want something hotter than vintage but not in the 20k region and I like my pickups to sound amazing both clean and dirrrty.
Ok, GO! :D Ta.

Rebel Yell.
14.5K (or thereabouts), bright (but "big" sounding), great clean and dirty, won't be muddy in an SG. But you might need to adjust your amp settings a bit, as it's already lean in the bass and has lots of upper mids.

That sounds pretty good all round. Cheers!

I would say Rebel Yell as well. I replaced a Full Shred for the RY in my SG-type guitar and it's way better + very different than the FS.

Would you say it was, like, leagues better? A complete tonal turd on the FS or just a bit different?

I bought my Guild S-100 with a FS in the bridge and a JB (!!!) in the neck. I wouldn't say a complete tonal turd at all on the FS, just different. The FS had more lows and appeared to have more output, even though it has 0.5K lower resistance. It was great for metal, but I wanted something to cover a lot of genres. The RY has more mids, which is perfect in a band sitution and will never get lost in the mix! It seems to be very balanced in relation to lows/mids/highs. The main improvement which I love compared to the FS is the increased dynamics due to the scatterwinding and also better picking response.

Great review, cheers amigo. ^^

Did you buy & install the RY yet?
I was just about to post the same question you did as I too am needing something high output in the bridge of my SG.
I was hovering between a Miracle Man or the Rebel Yell....

Did I buggery, I have to wait for money for such delights as new pickups.
