I've just put in my nailbomb, and it seems to work fine, until i try to use the volume or tone controles - they work in that the volume or tone is changed in the right direction, but whenever they're used, there is quite a loud crackling sound. what have done wrong?
-
The pots might need a clean? I'd check your soldering joints on the pots too...
-
it's not soldered to the pot, it's soldered to the pickup selector
-
i have also just found that when the pickup selector is in the middle position, neither pickup works, i've checked the soldering, and it all seems to be fine.
Any ideas?

It's wired wrong.
What guitar is it, and how have you wired it?
-
It's a Maverick F1, and I've wired it so that the core wire goes to the pickup selector tag, and the braided outer shield goes to the grounding point on the other side.
-
Hmm. Sounds OK. Is your selector switch busted???
-
i don't think so, it works in the bridge and neck position, and the contacts seem to be in contact.
-
I've just checked it all again, and it some how seems to be fine now, that's weird, oh well, thanks for the help.
