About a month ago i got got my V back from Mansons with a shiney new pair of Warpigs in them, Cermic in the bridge Alnico in the neck voiced like a Cold Sweat and coil tapped (thanks to Tony Gibbson for mentioning this, the combination absolutly slays). Looking at getting two more sets like this for two more V's i have planned in the future.
I'm loving the set up, my guitar can pretty much do anything i need it to do now.
Also, i decided to bite the bullet and pour all of my savings into a new amp and cab.
Enter the Diezel Herbert, after trying this out with the new pickups i knew i just had to get one, 3 channels this head is sooo versatile.
Channel 1 - Clean, Gorgous cleans so much nicer than the JCM (obviously) everything is crisp and clear with tons of headroom.
Channel 2 - Gain, with out the gain boost switch on you've got a really great overdriven tone perfect from blues, flick the switch and your in gain heaven. One huge chunky rythm channel plenty of bass and wickedly tight, also works well as a lead channel (haven't decided how i'm going to use this yet)
Channel 3 - MORE Gain! As if channel 2 wasn't enough, this channel just slays, i've never heard anything like it, again huge amounts of bass and everything remains tight and articulate.
As for cabs, i tried out a Marshall hand wired 4x12, and Bad Cat 4x12 and an Orange 2x12 (as i had heard TO mentioning that these cabs were great new cabs to go for) after trying the Orange out i just had to have one, so i placed and order for a 4x12 and waited, the orange cab handles everything perfectly.
Can't express how happy i am with my sound now, i wont be changing my set up for a long time (appart from another cab).
I should be able to get some pictures soon when my sister gets back with the camera. As for sound clips, i'l be using this rig in the studio for the whole album, so you'l get a pretty in depth idea of how a Warpig in a Gibson flying V sounds in a full band set up, if your interested.
Cheers, Mikey

There goes another person buying my dream amp :<
I just hope I can play one at LGS by the Blackmachine stand :>

Thanx for the detailed review. Glad you're enjoying your rig!
When my band has rehearsals, I usually use a VH-4 and the other guitarist uses a Herbert.
-
definitely get some clips! i'm putting in a bridge miracle man in my gibson v and i was planning on putting a warpig in the neck eventually.

Orange 4x12 = bye bye healthy back 8)
Congrats, I am a big follower of the dogma that people should rather invest in guitars, amps and education than their pension - time is too precious.
Herbert must be nice. I only played the VH4 so far, and liked it more than many others. Guess the VH4 is a bit looser/ more vintage than the Herb.
Enjoy your studio time with the new gear!!!!!

sounds like an amazing setup

Sekhmet, is there any way I can get into your will? :D
-
wow, sounds amazing!
how much does a Herbert set you back?
it must slay

that sounds awesome. like hunter, i've only tried the vh4, and it kicked ass (apart from the cleans).
nice rig. understatement alert.

Hehe cheers for the comments :-)
Yeah the Orange cabs way a tonne.
The Diezel head set me back £2200 and the Orange Cab at £629, but i managed to get £150 knocked off by pretending to have a gun in my pocket... ;-)
It feels oddly refreshing to be broke again.

surely if you were pretending to have a gun in your pocket you should've been trying to get it for free?

Yeah the Orange cabs way a tonne.
Well, to be precise: 50Kg / 110Pounds and they don't sit on wheels like other brands (which might help make them sound better)
:o

Awesome setup, mate!
-
heh... ultra beast setup you have there!!
Makes my recent GAS explosion look kinda weak :P
Westfield Musicman Stingray style bass - £100
Peavey Studio Transtube 112 combo - £150
Yamaha CS1X synth keyboard - £102
8)
i've given up with crazy equipment i'll never use properly lol
The Peavey is suprisingly good, the Modern setting on the 3 stage gain is the perfect power metal type 'generic nice sounding tone', although my BKP's help ;)

CS1X rocks man !

i'm never going to have that much money to spend on gear.....
i'm almost broke at the moment, i will be after buying Twinfan's cab, which reminds me..... i'm a forgetful idiot.
