Title: Sinner for this tone?
Post by: _tom_ on April 26, 2007, 11:05:10 PM
I'm building up a parts strat which is having an ash body, and maple neck. I'd always stayed away from bridge singles before because they sounded too thin and weak to me. I heard the Pro Guitar clips though, and they sound just as fat and good as the LP clips, but with more bite. I love this tone:

Obviously I dont have a plexi, but would a Sinner be able to get that kinda fat, raw rock tone in the bridge, or should I go for something like an Irish Tour? The only thing I'm worried about is the sinner sounding too smooth/compressed and not raw enough..

Oh, and if I were to get a coil tap installed on a sinner, what difference could I expect in tone?

Cheers

edit - I also really like the tone on Arctic Monkeys' Fake tales of San Francisco - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePg1tbia9Bg

Not sure if a Sinner would be too dark/smooth for that, even tapped?
