Title: New Sekhmet songs using a Ceramic Warpig
Post by: Sekhmet on April 29, 2007, 07:44:13 PM
Weeee so finally we get back from the studio with the new album, 7 songs in 10 days (not too shabby me thinks).

As promised all guitar work is done with a Cermic Warpig in the bridge of a Gibson V, the accoustic parts were done with either a Taylor nylon string or a mixture of the Taylor and a coil tapped alnico Warpig in the neck.

Signal chain is as follows...

Ceramic Warpig loaded Gibson V into a Diezel/Messa Dual Recto miced up with a Sm57 and a Sennheiser 421 - Audient asp 008 - Apogee rosette 800 - Pro Tools HD 3

(i think i got that right?)

The guitars are Quad tracked (was mighty fun doing that to a click :-P) each channel has one track of Diezel and one track of Mesa Dual Recto (we found that mixing them together gave a meatier tone rather than just using the Diezel).

I'm not sure how the guitars are panned unfortunatly.

Anyways two of the songs can be found at http://www.myspace.com/sekhmetuk

In Pain, and Prepare for War are the new ones.

Hopefully this should give you and idea of how a Ceramic Warpig handles in a full band situation.

On a side note the Studio Engineer did mention that Bare Knuckles were the quietest pickups he's ever recorded.

Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it.

We'd love to play Bloodstock but we're not known well enough up north yet, although we're planning on gigging up there heavily soon as the thrash sceane is so much more alive up there.

Evile played there last year and i'm pretty sure they went down a treat!
Testament are playing this year too so it would be a great year to do it. But if your doing any shows around the London area tell me because i'd love to go see you play! :D

Don't want to annoy any one by littering the place with Sekhmet nonsense though.

Evile are really cool, and a great bunch of guys, gigged with them once befor really hope to do more with them.

Cheers BM i will let them know, i was a slugg but we're really happy with the end result.

Ok, I dont really like metal much anymore, but this is awesome. You remind me of Slayer, but with better vocals and tasteful solos :D I like it.

Thanks again for the possative feedback.

Yeah the Ceramic Warpig is a beast, it's completely transformed my V, i love it, we did a gig the other night and as i cranked my amp for sound check i heard someone at the back from the other band say "Jesus Christ thats heavy as hell"... needless to say i was grinning from ear to ear :-P

that's the same reaction i get... a HUGE evil grin!

it's really heavy though, and the bass needs to be controlled if you want to live!

Woah! It's sounds like Slayer with better tones and riffs! I like this a lot, well done man it sounds facking brilliant!! Good vocals too, good band all round. Some good stereo panning effects too on the mix. It's good to hear the actual lyrics in metal too so hats off to the vocalist for not going down the path of coughing up phelm in a baritone welsh accent with throat cancer!

Edit, just ran a line out from the laptop to my stereo and kranked the vol the gutars sound just cool as f***! Tell your drummer he is amazing!

It's cool that thrash is getting popular again too.

Thanks :-) glad you like it.

We've never really been a fan of the old cookie monster vocals, don't get me wrong when they're done well i love it but everyone does it now and no one really gets it that well.

Yeah the Uk Thrash scene is picking back up, Earache have started taking notice by signing Evile and SSS also Metal Hammer and Terrorizer have been giving the scene some much needed attention.

Yeah evile went down a treat but they do havea  HUGE following from back when they were one of the bigger metallica tribute bands...metal milit#ia.....

but anyway all you have to do to play at bloodstock is make a poll on the forum and get enough votes.

if you go on www.ukthrash.co.uk theres also full thrash assault which works ona  similar system.

I really think you guys should go for it as you have some top quality material there and this is THE only clip EVER to make me want a warpig.
