...and its great!!! What a superb pedal! I got the full-on Top Boost model after comparing it with the Micro Metal Muff in the shop.
It does early Metallica-ish scooped mids, to Sabbath, to Ozzy and if you boost the mids you can get a great 90s rock tone (think Alice Cooper's Hey Stoopid album). All through a Valve Junior!
I've been thrashing about all day with my Jackson Dinky. Barking at the moon, waiting for 2 minutes to midnight before I tell the sandman to enter...

hahaha awesome!
i've always wondered about this pedal, and had strong GAS for it once
sounds great!

So its more of a distortion pedal rather than a fuzz pedal?
-
Yep, definitely distortion. Still a little fuzzy in the bass, but not much at all. It's pretty tight.
I love it :D

Can you get a smooth/crunchy Randy Rhoads/Jake E Lee tone?
Does it work well with other stomps?
Oh yea, where did you get it?
Cheers
-
Not tried it with other stomps, but it IS Ozzy in a box. Iommi to Lee to Rhoads to Wylde.
I got it from Music Ground in Manchester for £65. They're on the 'bay for around £50 + postage I think.
-
Ah watford valves have them for £50.
I think I`m gonna pick myself one up!
Cheers

I used to have one of these, sold it when I got the Marshall (wish I hadn't now). Absolutely awesome pedal for metal, definitely better than a lot of amp distortion I've heard. I was also thinking of getting one and putting it through a VJ as a nice practise amp.
-
Exactly what I use it for. A have a LOAD of overdrive/distortion stomps but the MM is the best for heavy stuff. My two favourites are:
E-H Metal Muff for Maiden, Ozzy, Alice Cooper etc
MI Audio Crunch Box for EVH, DC, Whitesnake, Lizzy etc

You git, now I have to go and try one, as I loved that bloody album
That coupled with wanting an SG style guitar (yeah I know I have one), as I have been listening to too much Alice the last few hours.

Guitarist magazine didn't really rate it and gave it 3.5 stars. Said the bass was too loose as I think they were expecting a Mesa in a box, given the Metal Muff tag. Imagine a Mesa with EL34s and that's the kind of tone you get. It does have its own sound though which colours things a bit, making the type of guitar you use less important. But then with scooped mids and plenty of gain and that's what happens with any pedal/amp.
-
Pedals are also very dependant on the Amp you are using.
I love my homebrew Big muff with my fender, but it's horrible with the AVT (before anybody says it, other pedals work well with the AVT)

Could you post some soundclips please?
Preferably through the clean channel of your valve jr.

As regards that, they were the only Guitar mag not to like it, Total Guitar, Guitar and Bass and Guitar Buyer all loved it. In fact it was no.2 in G.Buyers Pedal of the Year 2006. I'd probably say it wasn'y perfect for Ultra-Modern Metal, ala Death and Metalcore because it isn't very tight but it still has a very big and satisfying *chunk* none the less. Think a JCM800 on steroids, I guess, very easy to get a good 80's thrash sound from it. Plus Harmonics just ooze from it. EDIT: check youtube for clips.
