found this on youtube, playing a tiny little club in Colchester - the band sound fastastic and Angus' tone is amazing as usual...

Not sure if I like that. I'm not much of a 'DC fan...

Had to smile at the last comment on it ......

Thats the best guitar tone I've ever heard :D
-
Agreed. Angus' best tone was the late seventies master volume stuff, just after they got a Marshall deal.
I'd love a JMP 100w Master Volume MkII :)

I'd pretty much agree with that - my fave Angus tone is on the If You Want Blood live album.
Mal otoh sounded better earlier on imo - the old 4-input heads suited his cleaner style more.
I love how they're running two full stacks a piece in such a small venue too - love it!!!
Angus' tone at around 6:25 is just textbook Marshall - how I always want to sound.

I heard he used a booster pedal on the IYWB live album. Not sure how true that is, but I can get pretty close to the tone with my Klipps and a DOD 250...
-
never heard of Angus using boosters, though I'd never rule it out. I must say that it sounds just like a 2203 Marshall cranked up to me.
I've also heard people say he used a mkI Boogie on that tour - doesn't sound anything like it to me.
The thing with Angus is that he gets SO much from just an SG straight into a cranked Marshall that people think he must have something else going on in that rig. The truth is simply that he's a monster player with great feel.

Frankly I was amazed them two Marshalls didn't blow little Mal right off the stage. Did they glue him to the floor or something?
Malcolm's early sound is amazing. That little semi hollow Gretsch Jet with Gibson 12's on it through that old Marshall with plenty of mids...........awesome tone. It's almost clean but heavy as hell.

THE TONE!!!!
That was amazing! That vid got saved to my favorites.
I've never seen that before.

Unbeatable live. And there is nothing like DC in a small club ...
Ahhh, brings a tear to the eye
