Im thinking about getting an Ibanez 7, however im am stuck between two. The S7320 and the RG1527 Prestige. The S has a mahogany body different pickups(ill try BKP either way) and a different locking Bridge. The RG has basswood body and a Edge Pro.
At the minute im thinking the RG because of the trem but i am unsure of the basswood body compared the mahogany. It also has Maple/wenge opposed to just maple.
Anyone got opinions on these guitars or the woods?
Also what makes Prestige...Prestige compared to the not Prestige. Ive heard its just the finish or the electrics. but im not really sure.

the Prestige ones are made in japan.
the basswood bodies are decent sound a bit different from the mahog ones, I have a nailbomb in the bridge of mine and its sweet.
i am about to order a coldsweat for the neck.

basswood is not my favorite wood for guitars because it doesnt really have a tone of its own thats easy to describe - but that fact makes it great if you are a certain type of metal player
Mahogany usually has a warmer and somehwat darker tone.

The S7320 has a slightly thicker D neck than the slim RG neck. In terms of tone it's down to your own personal taste. I hear the S7320 is amazing good value for money and well worth it. The ZR trem is a bit plus too and is apparently incredibly stable.
Prestige ibanez's are made in Japan and are considered better quality as it kinda equals that of the 80's RG's. Though Korean Ibanez's are also pretty damn good.

unfortunately a lot of guitars badged "prestige" arent MIJ anymore... just makes stuff confusing. You really have to check the back of the headstock...

I wouldn't worry about prestige or not prestige considering my Ibanez is MiK and it's better than 99% of the Prestige's I've played - Certainly the ones below £1200.
The ZR Trem is awesome - So don't worry about that.
Looking at the spec I'd go for the S, but personally I love RGs, although Basswood body doesn't sound as good as mahogany imo.

Another thing then. What about the necks the S has a 3 piece maple and the RG has 5 piece maple/wenge neck. Whats wenge and what difference does 3 piece and 5 piece make.
Does anyone Know If they are bolt on through body or glued on (forget what its called)?
Thanks for the help. I am much more inclined towards the S now. Still not made up my mind though...
i want to learn to shred so i would like to go for the faster neck option. Which is why i chose ibanez.

The S series is a bolt on. The difference between the 3 and 5 piece necks is that the 5 piece necks usually have some sort of different wood on the neck (like rosewood on most). This apparently makes the neck stronger though 3 piece necks are still strong.
