Think Buckethead's lead tone in Nottingham Lace.
Mahogany body, flamed maple top, rosewood fretboard.

dont know bout bucketheads tone but my VHII neck sounds smooth
-
i take we are talking HBs... in which case i would go for the CS, although i don't listen to anything with bucket in the name (except for KOL)... the CS is meant to be best for shredding, so i'd imagine it's fairly fluid and smooth....

muzzz'll turn up in a sec an right you an essay on which pickup to choose.
He has a mild admiration of buckethead I believe.

lolness : "muzzz'll"

^^ that is pretty funny :lol:

Abraxas neck is great for smooth and warm. I have no idea what Nottingham Lace sounds like though, unfortunately.

+1 for Abraxas neck. Also the Miracle Man neck is a very smooth tone. Most BK neck pickups will give that great neck humbucker lead sound. I don't know any Buckethead, basically because anyone who has a KFC carton on their head never really made me want to listen to them!

Abraxas = warm neck tone.

+1 on the Abraxas neck pickup! It is the business. 8)

i cant really recommend a pickup as im looking for somethign to do this sort of thing myself for my neck.

having heard a TO recording with an abraxas neck PU, i must say it rules!

The Abraxas neck sounds like a great choice to me. If your bridge pup is a hot one, maybe a Cold Sweat instead. Both are eternally popular choices.
