You're looking at £800+ I'd say if we're talking a regular Standard.

I'm assuming it's a Gibson, not an Epi? One thing I can think to look for -  take a good look at the area where the headstock joins the neck, to check it hasn't been snapped off and sloppily repaired. Should be obvious if it has.

Value-wise, I'd say £500-550 would be a fair price for one of that age in good condition. After all, it is 16 years old.

You're having a a giraffe aren't you?

Gibson Les Paul Standard?  From a respected era (high quality during the early nineties)?  Good condition?  Are they really that cheap?

^That's just my opinion man. It's what I'd offer for the thing, as I've seen similar age models go on Ebay for about £500. It could well be worth more than that, but it's surely worth having a go to see if you can pick it up for less.

I think anyone hoping to get much more than about £700 for a  production line guitar which cost £1200(?) new 16 years ago is being ambitious. For what its worth, I don't think 16 years is old enough to enter the realms of 'vintage'.

1200 is avg price-I would expect to pay at least 12oo for a st LP-1000 would be a steeeaaal-2002 marks a change in the standard-a 2002 has the vintage binding,etc...I have a 2002 wine red AA top ,which I got for 1300-a steal--is it a plain top,or figured??the moreA,the more pay!!

I think that's pretty reasonable, I don't think the 90's Gibsons are that prestigious to warrant much more than that. If they are, they shouldn't be,

yes-keep in mind, I have been playing the scene for lefties, but the prices are the same for used axes in the U.S.-ebay is a great way to get a feel for the used market here-I searched the web for months looking for a 2002+ lp standard-after watching many items on ebay, I got a feel for the $$ I would be spending-every auction for a standard I watched for many months was at usually 1300 and above-lost a few auctions that went above 1500(that was my budget-shipping and all)...but,I was patient-scored a 2002 st with a AA wine red top//lefty for 1300-for some reason,no one bidded on it-I was the lone bidder-you may want to look at the Classic-same guitar with a few cosmetic differences(check bridge as well-some differences(abm bridge on some,if I remember correctly)-dropped in some rebel yells, and I will never part with it!

here in the US,it seems the best way is to monitor dealers,ebay,etc-if it is not vintage, you just end up weighing what you are willing to spend vs. price brand new-if I had a LP Standard, I KNOW  I could get more than  1000 USD for it...once again, tops do matter-if it has some nice flame,it will bring more $$ than a plain top/faded top...I have noticed faded tops going for 14-1500 USD on the Bay-I have bought a few from the bay..it is scary, but a quality seller makes all the difference-being a lefty,my choices are few-if I was righty, I would go pull one off a wall and go from there-if you can play it first,by all means do---the best advice is patience...wait for what you want-it will come!!
my next target is a standard in amber burst..AAA top..might take a few years, but hopefully I have a few years left..
also, check out some gibson message boards-best place to look for more advice

If it is in good nick (and assuming that it really is a Standard) I would be suprised if it was under £700-750 - if it is, bite his hand off!! From tracking eBay this seems to be a baseline figure - there is the occasional exception to this but not many.

There again - he might have nicked it and be looking to offload it quickly - I got my 89 Standard from someone who was "selling it for my boyfriend..."

I paid cash and left quickly....

if you can get it for £500 then it's a steal.  looking at completed listings on ebay, I can't see anything going for under £750.

my LP is a '91 and an amazing guitar - I played lots of LPs before I bought it.  never let me down in 13 years.

Hmm, if I was offered £500 for an early 90's LP (they were still properly built then), I would ask you to politely stick your offer where the sun don't shine!

£800 at least. Having said that, at the moment its definately a buyers market for guitars so there should be some good bargains to be had.

i offered him a grand for the guitar but his mind was made up :(

Whats the serial number? some les pauls which appear at first to be '91 (1st and 5th numbers) are actually '94 if it is one of these guitars all the ones i have played seem to be far superiour than most other les pauls
