Title: Country Boy set in Telecaster, new song.
Post by: steve on May 15, 2007, 11:14:09 AM
Hi. This is a new recording of a old song of mine. Its a Fender Tele fitted with BK Country Boy pickups. Its not my guitar, it belongs to the one and only Steve (Mr 38th Beatle). He kindly lent it to me to record this song because i felt a tele tone would work well, and im really happy with the results. The guitar is a tone monster, awesome claens great crunch and real biting lead tones. I want one now!! Steve put in a 4 way switch which really makes it a versatile guitar.

Recorded using my Tonelab into my Zoom MRS1608, i used many different amp models and pickup settings to get the tones i wanted. Drums by Neil Feltham. Its a slow countryish track that builts up to a solo section. Hope you like it.

Wish I'd got that Tokai copy I saw for £200 in Coda a while back, its gone now

why is that song so recognisable?

I must have heard the first version, it's really good. I've always loved telecasters for looks and the tone!

It is good to hear her played properly Steve. The Country Boys brought her to life and gave her the great warm Tele tones.

I remember your kind comments about the original version which had slow hand single coils on it.The CB's fit the feel better.

Sounds great, lovely cleans and the solo.

I've been wanting a tele for a while now and this makes me want one more!

I'd just add that this Tele has been played alongside a friends ancient Tele. Before it had the CB's, the two guitars were very different-after, they sounded very very similar and in fact, my mate and I had difficulty telling them apart on a recording we'd done. In other words, if you like the classic Tele tone then CBs do the job extremely well. Now if I could play like Steve I'd be laughing.

Cheers, glad you like it. I just used the tele on a heavy funk track and it sounds great. Very versatile pickups.

Go for it-people here are very supportive and appreciative of the fact that others do take the trouble to record and post clips. If you are worried about playing lead runs, why not do what I did and play chords so that we can hear the tonality of the guitar-it is every bit as valid.

Please post your clip of the Piledrivers, i (we) would really love to hear it. The great thing about this forum is we are all a friendly bunch and we like to hear different BK clips. Cheers.

to be honest, I didn't really like the clean tones... but I never  like tele cleans
but it's those AMAZING LEAD TONES that makes GAS for a tele

and the song was awesome, especially how it kicks off at the end...

seriously one of the best clips around here, great job
