Title: FA Cup Final
Post by: Crazy_Joe on May 18, 2007, 08:47:17 PM
Who's gunna win?! :P

Man UTD of course, this is the final obstacle which will make this Chelsea's worst season under Jose Mourhino as they will have achieved only 2nd place in the Premiership and a Carling Cup victory.

New Wembley planning a big opening ceremony:

Haha i love the part about how both sets of fans are being 'advised' to boycott the food and merchandise because the prices are too high!

FA CUP FINAL PRICES

Hot dog: £4
Pint of lager: £4.50
Pie: £4
Bottle of water: £1.80

Well that was the worst game of football i have ever seen. Complete cr@p, and not because Man U lost haha.

But Chelsea didn't deserve that win, we created more chances and should have scored one of them.

bullsh*t!!! it was incredibly tight all the way through, with only a handful of chances for each side... Giggs should have scored... Kalou probably should have scored..... thats about all i can think of in terms of proper chances... so how you can say we didnt deserve to win is just ridiculous  :D

Well, my cousin will be happy. He's supported Chelsea all his life. I asked him last year how he felt about their recent successes - and the way they'd been won by throwing money about. Did he care? Did he smeg. He was just happy they were successful at last (or should that be again?)

Oh, and Andy Hamilton supports Chelsea. Question: Why do I find him cuddly?

It was a game of no chances really, but Chelsea wern't offensive at all, at least Man Utd actually had some breaks and Giggs should have scored. I don't know where you got Kalou should score from because he was shite all game like he has been throughout the Premiership.

And to all the Man UTD haters, i don't understand how you can say that Man U have been c--ky, i think most people would be considering Chelsea who are the richest football club in the world and who throw their money about everywhere have been on top for the past 2 years.

They just buy their way to the title, we worked for it we deserve it so we can celebrate all we want.

It really was one cr@p game of football.  Good job I was off my tit's when I watched it, otherwise I might not have been able to cope.

Hopefully the Champions League will be better.  I would quite like the English team to win it, but I think I'd like to see Liverpool get an entire can of Kaka's whooopass opened on them.  It's kind of against every fibre in my being to cheer Liverpool on

I'm not a Man U hater or a Chelsea supporter, Joe, but I think it's a bit of a joke when Chelsea constantly have that "buying titles" accusation thrown at them.  It's not that easy.  They had money when Ranieri was in charge but he couldn't win them the Premiership.

And let's look at Man U - Ronaldo, Rooney, Carrick, Rio, Vidic, Smith, Evra, Heinze, Saha (and previously Van Nistelrooy, Veron etc)... none of them products of the MU academy, as far as I know.  And they didn't come cheap.

Both clubs have crazy amounts of money and power.  I think it's a shame that the Premiership now falls into little groups that hardly change - the top 2, the next 2, the "maybe scr@pe a Euro place" 4 or 5, the mid-table obscurities, the revolving-door relegation group.  But they all still have to turn up and play to get the points.

well said Philly.

thats something i always get thrown at me...

but exactly- Man U have stupid amounts of money too...

again, with buying titles...

you won the premiership... so obviously buying titles isnt as easy as you make out to be...

loads of clubs are starting to get bought by mega-rich people now anyway... chelsea wont be the only club with a seemingly unlimited amount of money, (not that they are really anyway)...

Kalou was through on goal and took a shot that went pretty near Van Der Sar's left post... should have been in really, and Van Der Sar was beaten in my opinion...

and anyway- i dont think you were watching the same bloody game... your making it out to be as if chelsea were withstanding pressure from Man UTD all game... which was obviously NOT the case...

either way.. winning a football match isnt all about 'being offensive'... chelsea played the same tactics and style as we've done pretty much all season... and it paid off on the day.

and once again i'll raise the point- you might have had (marginally) more chances... but you didnt TAKE those chances... so regardless of whether you had more shots on goal or whatever... we had a clear cut chance, which we took... and won...

as i said before, and as someone else mentioned... i dont think either team 'deserved' to win... it was close-cut... could have gone either way... fortunately it went ours...

oh and Kalou's scored 10 goals this season if im not mistaken...

not exactly shitee in my books.

Frankly - Footballers seriously confuse me.

The amount they get paid - They shouldn't be able to miss the goal.

Look at professional pianists for example - Paid much less yet they couldn't miss a note if they tried - And although this is an extremely weak comparison , a piano key is alot smaller a target than a Football goal.

Conclusion - Footballers clearly aren't being paid enough - If they were paid more they would obviously train more, amirite?

Van Der Sar had that covered all the way it was miles off.

And if you watch match of the day i think you'll find that the people on there agree with me saying Chelsea have had a cr@p season considering the money they have and cr@p January signings (which includes Kalou).

The game was shite yes and nobody deserved to win.

Onto Philly Q, i think you will find that when we had Van Nistlerooy and Veron we wern't owned by a Billionaire and we didn't pay stupid prices for players then like Shevchenko which is the highest price ever paid for a footballer. We pay sensible prices for the majority of our players.

what will happen to the blue boys when Abramovic loses interest - will Ken Bates buy them back to factor his debts like he did with Leeds?  Are Chelsea another Blackburn - a club with a big capricious cheque book behind it but no youth programme or history to build for the future.  As much as I hate Scum Utd most of their success over the past 15 years came from their youth programme, not flashy cash.

and the FA cup is not what it used to be - just another shitee trophy in a seemingly endless battle between 4 clubs.

well firsly, i dont think people should base their opinions solely off match of the day.. or any one single source of information at all for that matter.

secondly, its not a cr@p season "considering the money they have"... otherwise theyd have said that about us every year unless we won every single trophy possible (going by your suggestions of how much money we have).

i would agree- we made bad signings, and could have done better had they been more wise. but 2nd in the league, and winners of both main domestic cups... i dont care what anyone says; thats not cr@p regardless of how much money a team has.

and once again, even if we're going off match of the day here, i dont recall Kalou ever once being mentioned as a bad signing. As i said- 10 goals... 10 goals off about a third of the number of league performances drogba has had... seems pretty damn good to me actually.

schevchenko- really hasnt settled too well... but still, 15 goals i think it is.

thats pretty good going for someone who has had a bad season.

and if you were really paying attention to Match of the Day, you would have noticed Alan Hansen's words on how Drogba is a great example of giving players time to settle and adapt to the premiership. I bet you were among the many (including myself!) who slated Drogba in previous seasons for not being worth the £25 million we paid... now look where he is? top scorer of the premiership.

if he's still here next season (schevchenko) i think there'll be a noticable improvement and the signing will be worth while.

oh and your point about you paying sensible prices for players... i personally dont think any figure in millions is a suitable price for a football player, its ridiculous as i said before...  once you get into that sort of figures of money its all in the same ballpark really... money can only buy you so much in terms of a player...

look at Real Madrid for another example of how money doesnt always guarantee success... think of the cash thats been thrown at that club over time.

also, for an example of how to make a GOOD point- look at Elliots post above.

that is something that seriously worries me. the reality is, that we WILL fall from grace due to Abramovic leaving or just losing interest to some degree, sooner or later. but then again its impossible for a team to stay top of the pile, undisputed, FOREVER....

also one final point- Elliot.. whilst i would agree that Man UTD's academy/youth system has helped them considerably, i wouldnt necessarily say its been the cause of MOST of their success... they have had their share of flashy cash too... but definitely point taken. and thats another thing that worries me about us- i hope the board have the sense to invest time and money properly in our youth systems.

essay over.

I'm bored of the debate TBH, but just on this money point:

Van Nistelrooy £19 million (British transfer record at the time)
Veron £28 million (another British transfer record at the time.  Sold for £15m, that was a good bit of business)
Rooney £23 million (possibly rising to £31 million, depending on results and appearances)

You might argue that 2 of those were money well spent, but so, it turns out, was the £24m for Drogba.  This picture of Man U as a thrifty little club just doesn't wash.  Why the chip on the shoulder?  You're not Millwall for god's sake.

Van Nistelrooy was top scorer in the premiership for quite a few season i beleive so 19 million isn't bad for that. Rooney is amazing as always and is cheaper than Drogba by 1 million who took time to settle whereas rooney didn't and Veron was great when Alex Ferguson played him even though that is a high price.

And Sambo is you were watching Match of the day you would see that they said Kalou was a bad signing in fact alan hanson said all their January signings were bad.

And where did you get winners of both main domestic cups? You only won the FA cup this season?!

I agree that all these millions is terrible to spend on a player, i meant sensible money as in not the Chelsea way.

To be honest billionaires buying all these clubs is ruining the game and making it so that only a few teams can win everything.

I hate that the Glazer's bought Man UTD and West Ham got bought out too but at least we don't abuse it like Chelsea does.

And you can't take the piss out of Veron when you buy Schevshenko for 40 or 50 million or whatever stupid price you paid for him, especially since he is the worst player in the premiership this season.

worst player in the premiership this season... alright then. if you say so.

im not 'forgetting' the premiership... thats the league title... not a trophy/cup in the traditional sense of what the word is used for in English football..

its not called the "premiership cup" is it?

jesus.

WTF how is it not a trophy are you blind?! It's blatantly just because you lost this season haha. It's called the league cup.
And there has not been a bigger dissapointment this season than Sheva, i don't know how you can not see that, unless you havn't actually been watching the football this season which would explain why your argument fails.

my god... could you know any less about football?

the league cup... you think the premiership is the league cup..

before you come out with your "WTF are you blind?! it's blatatntly cause you lose the season haha"...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Cup

as i said... the premiership title is not a cup competition... whereas the Carling (LEAGUE CUP), and F.A. CUP, are.... yes?

so therefore, we, (chelsea), won the two main CUPS... CUP TOURNAMENTS.... and you, Man UTD, won the league...

and to round off- my argument doesn't fail... because there is a fundamental difference between you calling Schevchenko the 'WORST' player of the season, and the 'biggest disappointment' of the season..

whilst he may well be the biggest diappointment... he was by no means the worst... which is exactly what my argument was... and hence, it does not fail.

yes?

I think we are all missing the point that Man UTD are champions and Chelsea suck balls.
And that will be my cue to leave.
