Had a gig last night (which didnt go too well, I made loads of mistakes :(), and somehow managed to snap 2 strings, 2 songs in a row! First the A in she's electric, then the G in rosalie.. very annoying, I havent snapped a string on this guitar in ages, and the strings are only 2-3 weeks old (normally last me a month or 2 before I decide to change them), so I cant think of any reason why they would go. Saddles arent sharp either :? Maybe they were just duff strings or something?

Adrenaline, Tom! :D Just nerves and stress making you hit those strings harder. I doubt it's anything to do with the strings or the guitar.
Way to go, I've never snapped an A or G string in my life. Then again, I've never played a gig in my life either.

That is a real pain Tom.I have snapped strings over the years but in the days when I took just one guitar to a gig, I was changing them more often to avoid the problem. Even if you have a spare, it is still a pain part way through a song. My Spare guitar is the one that I practice on-saving the wear on the strings on "no 1".

Maybe Phil, but I was fine at the gig before this, with no string snappage!
Yeah, 38th, it is a pain in the arse! I managed to change the A quickly but the G wouldnt come out of the tuner very easily so I gave up and switched to my Charvel (which was the worst guitar ever for playing Sweet Child o Mine solos, neck singlecoil sounds awful for that smooth lead tone  Rebel Yell sounded good in it though!)
Also, I think I need to get some earplugs, my ears are really ringing today.

I always fit fresh strings before a gig. 2 to 3 week old strings which have been used quite a bit and got sweaty often go. Usually by the bridg esaddle in my experience from palm muting.

Could be a bad set of strings. I've had a couple of brand new strings that broke without a clear reason.
