Just received the 1x12 JCM800 Marshall cab I bought used for 100EUR off a guy in Germany. Real cheap deal I'd say, the wood is looking quality, birch i think.
At low volume the cab is lacking some bass (compared to my ported 2x12)and I have the feeling it wants to be cranked (which I cannot do right now).
Anyone know these speakers, it's a G12-65 Rola, 15 Ohm, are they supposed to be good?
As it's 15 Ohm, can I still run it safe at the 16 Ohm out of my amp?
Thanks for any advise

they've been reissued by Celestion so 'someone' must like 'em. they were standard in 4x12s around the later JMP-era going into early JCM800 before the 75w speakers came in.
I'm sure Slayer have been mentioned as famous users back in the early days but then again everyone with a new cab in the early 80s would have been using them.

i thought more people would have dived in here...
these speakers have really gone up in value. if you sell them, look around and make sure you set a reserve. you got an excellent deal for 100euros i'd say. you could probably sell the speaker seperately, put a g12-75t in the cab, sell that and make a tidy profit.
i never tried the g12-65 myself, but its highly rated by some as the original high gain speaker.
15ohms is ok with 16ohm output, at least i ran it like that and had no problems.

supposedly an amazingly good speaker, not had chance to try one myself im sure they were very popular in the early 80s along with the G12T75 which was released in the late 70s.. but around 86 the vintage 30 came out and that kinda took off so well everything else got left behind.. shame really coz some great stuff was around at that time speaker wise..
another great celestion speaker to look out for is the G12H100 similar to the G12K100 but less agressive and much warmer.. probably my favourite celestion speaker i've tried yet.

Do you guys mean the G12T100 - the "Hot 100"?
I can't see the G12H100 on the Celestion site...

yes, i mean the G12H-100, i dont think its currently being made. its a very nice high-powered conversion of the normal G12H in my opinion.

not the hot100.. it's out of production.. great speaker.
