Whats up dudes?,First time poster here and need some help with pickups. What you recommend for a replacement for a Burstbucker in the neck and a JB in the bridge( with CTS pots and treble tamer kit). Tha guitar is a 54 Les Paul Oxblood reissue. Its got a big old fat neck. What I'm after in the neck pickup is something smooth, sustainy and fluty. The bridge I'd like a fat/tight lowend, and thick sing note sound/feel. It cant be really bright due to I play a Stilletto Ace which is already bright. I play a wide range of music but mostly play heavy blues, rock and metal. The JB is too thin and uninspiring, better than the BB though. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!!

All Bare Knuckle Pickups are better than the BB's....
I would say Coldsweat for the neck position and definately Emerald or Crawler for the bridge position!

A Crawler set would be good. The bridge is thick and perfect for heavy blues. The neck pickup is very smooth, Santana smooth.

+1 to Crawlers!

Thanks so much for the imput. Can the Crawler do rock/metal? Ya know killer palm mutes, kick ass mids??

Holy Diver?

Can't comment from personal experience as I don't have a Crawler bridge pickup, but I can say that the Crawler neck is absolutely perfect for "smooth, sustainy and fluty".
Hunter's suggestion of the Holydiver for the bridge could be a good 'un - it's supposed to be similar to the original spec JB (from 30 years ago!). We need Antag to comment on the HD's capabilities, he has at least one in an LP.

Holy Diver sounds MASSIVE in my Vintage Burst Les Paul  - huge fat thick weighty "chunk" with gobs of mids & effortless harmonic feedback :) The VB is the nicest of my 3 LPs & the HD bridge just adds tons of "body" to an already great sounding guitar.
If there's any complaint it's that compared to my Jackson RR1T (alder/maple neck thru - also with HD set) it lacks a bit of top-end but IMO it's as much due to the cr@ppy 300k pots Gibson install. That's not to say it's in any way woolly or muddy - it's still very clear & massively heavy, but just doesn't quite have the same scything "cut" as the HDs in my RR1T. At some point the VB is going to get the Feline treatment, part of which will involve 500k pots - I made that change on my Desert Burst w/Miracle Man set & it's a LOT brighter.
Anyway, here (http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6460) are some HD clips I recorded a while back - the second clip is the VB. Hope this helps...
