Title: Cornford Hellcat
Post by: Dazza1004 on June 04, 2007, 11:32:25 AM
I am interested in this amp but it is nearly impossible to find a shop with one in stock or find clips of it (apart from the Gutherie ones).

I am trying to gauge how much gain it has on tap, can it handle metallica (black album) levels ?. Obviously I don't expect it to sound the same tonally.

How best describes the tone ?

Thanks

A thick meaty tone akin to Led zepplin 4 with a darker coffee edge

Help at all?

appreciate the response, not really a zep fan but I'm sure I have that album at home, will have a listen. Doesn't appear to be what I would class as metal though.

Have you got a Hellcat ?

I'm fairly sure Andertons (http://www.andertons.co.uk) in Guildford had one last time I was in there.

Also saw one in Guitar Works in Reading...

The MK50H is supposed to be capable of massive amounts of modern-sounding gain and the Hellcat is a hotter amp than that (I think!).

If all else fails you can get loads of useful info from the gear reviews at www.harmony-central.com (though obviously nothing beats hunting one down for yourself!)
