My most recent purchase, a Mesa studio preamp!!

I have wanted a Mesa sound for along time now but figured i didn't have enough money to get a Mesa amp so i came across this and saw that Metallica (which was kinda the sound i was aiming for) used Mesa preamps with Marshalls about the Puppets era so i figured i would try it with my Laney as the power amp, and it's awesome!!
By the way i am still using the Laney on it's own, this Mesa is just for heavier stuff like Metallica.
As i was taking pics i decided to take a picture of the new favourite line up:

and the Painkillerss!!!

Are you plugging it straight in to the Laney power amp, or are you going through the Laney's preamp to?
-
That Mesa must cost more than a custom guitar!! Or is that the triaxis? I`ve never heard of a 16 year old with a Mesa
Laney ruleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm a 16 year old with a Mesa F50, I got a 6 month old one off ebay for half the price they are when new, and the amp is amazing!
-
Nice, what styles of music do you play?
-
Pretty much anything from jazz to metal, and this amp will cover pretty much the whole range.

I am plugged into the Laney power amp i believe so it's mostly Mesa tone. I got the preamp for £350 including postage so i think that was a pretty good deal for a Mesa!

super stomp rocket?

£350 sounds excellent for a Mesa.
The reason i asked about where you're plugging it in is because my guitar teacher has a Mesa preamp plugged into a Fender, and he says that it sounds much better going through the Fender preamp to.

I'm with Dave on this-Super Stomp Rocket?tell us more.

Those Mesa Studio preamps were pretty expensive when they came out
Was based on the front section of the popular Studio 22 combo
When Racks fell out of favour I saw them go for as little as £250, but i think they are valued a bit more now.
Good units and it has reverb too
Only drawback to some is that if you have the clean channnel set very clean it stops you getting as much gain for the lead channel as the two channels cascade into each other
Can take a while to find your perfect setting but once you have it - BINGO!

I thought it was a rather good price for a Boogie, bit of a big spend for me but i wouldn't have got it if i didn't think it was what i needed for the sound i was aiming for.
As for the Super Stomp Rocket ahahah, i needed something to prop it up a bit so i used that as it was the first box i came across in the room.
You basically put a rocket which is connected to this air thingy and you stomp/jump on the air thingy and it launches the rocket miles into the air.
They really do go that far! i haven't used it in years though, i was surprised we still had it!!! Might have to give it another test run soon now.

the first BKP in space eh?

enjoy-glad to see another boogieman here-I own a mark IV and a mark IIC+(THE amp used on the early Metallica)--I can tell you that these are not your typical plug and play amps, even though you sound happy!check out a manual if you can-the cascading gain is unique-you can really fine tune your gain, esp. with the treble and the eq is super responsive!!!also, check out the boogieboard if you need tech -super info there!

Good stuff! I was close to getting a Studio preamp when I was using rack stuff, very nice units
