Title: Painkiller & Mesa clip!!!
Post by: Crazy_Joe on June 08, 2007, 02:44:29 PM
Yes, i have posted a clip finally. It's supposed to be a battle metal kinda track but then it started going anywhere haha.
It's really bad because some of it doesn't stay in time but it's the best i could come up with right now so constructive criticism pleaseee

This is all on the Painkiller bridge with only 2 tracks of guitar so it's not layered or anything, i would like to add i am not a recording expert so help with that would be useful :D

Setup - Tokai Explorer w/Painkillers - Laney VC50 (classic lead 80 speakers) w/ Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp (plugged into Laney power amp) - Samson CO1U usb mic - Audacity.

thought that was pretty awesome actually ;) very 80s, i bet your pleased with the tone, and cool ideas in your playing.

does your amp have reverb? maybe turn it down a little? or if no reverb then maybe turn the master up a bit to disguise the noise of the room? but just a small thing and i think thats just a question of personal taste.

i love that bkps are so easy to get a good tone recorded with. for me thats the best feature of them.

what about a bit of the painkiller neck we heard so much about?

Cheers :D there is reverb on the Boogie so i'll turn that down, i think theres a tad too much distortion too so i'll turn that down a bit.
I like the Mesa's tone though it's definatley more what i am looking for in terms of heavy stuff, i think the Classic lead 80's are finally breaking in now too so that will improve the tone a bit more.

I'll record a neck clip sometime next week probably, and maybe a bit of clean stuff too.

was that a Judas Priest riff? - if not, it sounded VERY Priest in that Turbo Lover era.

Great!  Very eighties, and a bit Iron Maiden-ish in parts.

Nice...

^ It's great, it's in my Les Paul at the moment (which needs some work) but other than that it sounds awesome, though i am tempted to change them out for something lower gain and put the ceramic holy divers in my Ibanez.
