I installed a set of VH2's in my Yamaha Sg and had not problems at all. Very simple install.

Not me personally, but I think Ratrod, Bird, Zigmund and Everton_fc (and maybe others I can't remember) all have BKPs in Yamaha SGs.

Shouldn't be any problems fitting them, except you might want new mounting rings as Yamaha pickups usually have 3-screw fittings.

(edit: and I see Bird has just posted!)

I've fitted Crawlers in my 70's SG400. It only needed different pickup rings. For the rest it's just as easy as swapping pickups in a Gibson.

Yeh my friend and myself fitted a set of mules into an old 1976 SG1500.

We did require new pickup rings as you know the Yamaha Rings have three screws where the BKP's require the standard two screws.

Fitting the pickups wasn't amazingly straight forward. I chose the standard 2 way braided setup. I found that actually getting the pickup in the body of the guitar a bit of a mission as the wires for the toggle switch was getting in the way, and threading the bradied wire through was a bit of a tight fit... but, with a bit of patience it was pretty easy in the end. Probably took me half an hour, without the soldering.

Soldering was OK - the Japanese bods from Yamaha left some very tidy soldering. De-soldering the old connections was really easy as a result of how neat and tidy the original wiring was. Just had to scr@pe the back of the pots a bit with a scalple in order for the braided wire to get a good soldering joint for the earthing.

The main thing that I realised was important was having patience - staying as chilled out as possible made the whole thing alot easier - It could have easily been a nightmare if I let myself get too frustrated.

Hope that helps

I think it's just the older sgs that have the 3 screw mounting rings   :)
