just a wee pole to see what we all play here
-
im just interested to see what you main plaiyin styles are as guitarists or in my case bluffer....lol
im pretty much a one dimensional metal player but i fruit about with acoustic stuff too. im not good enough yet to **widdley widddley** so i have to keep it basic
-
I play in a covers band and I play anything from late 1950's through to stuff today-nothing heavy though. All Strats/Teles and they cover a lot of ground with their BKP's on board.
-
Rock and occasionally metal.
-
Hard to choose any one style cuz it really ranges from classic rock and blues to acoustic classical stuff and metal, occasionally jazz too
but at the moment, founding a folk/death metal band interests me the most so I said METAL
-
i selected punk, because i suck. lolocaust
-
I voted rock modern and classic. I used to play plenty of metal too but nowadays I play alot of rockabilly.
-
Rock...classic and modern.
I've mainly been learning and jamming blues lately.
-
Traditional twin guitar metal.

Anything, as long as it's METAL  :guitar4:
-
80s thrash and some more modern BLS styled stuff for my band,
-
i voted punk... my musics not pure punk, but i feel as if i should represent
-
I attempt to play classic/hard rock and a bit of blues, so I voted rock.
I would've said metal, but the stuff we used to call metal when I were a lad doesn't seem to be considered metal nowadays.
-
I voted rock as it covers the most ground for what I do - I would have also selected blues and metal if the choice was there.

Trust me, it's still metal. Don't let the taste-makers decide what you play!!

Nah, I don't let anyone decide what I play (although if they ever heard me play, people of taste would ask me to stop...)
It's just the terminology which seems to have changed. I used to call UFO or Dokken metal, but the term "metal" now seems to mostly be applied to stuff with vocals that go "Rowwr RowRoowr Oooorwr RooowwwrGGHH!". But we've discussed that to death (not Death).
-
I would have said Dokken are metal, arn't they?

A young person speaks! Thanks Joe, that makes me feel a bit less antiquated.
-
well they are aye, just like sabbath and them lot, just because they have been about longer doesnt mean they arent metal no more.id class them more metal than half the tripe floating about these days.
-
Dokken are metal as hell!
-
Mainly rock. Some metal, some blues, but mainly rock.
I'm surprised about the vote results so far... most posts here (especially in the pickups section) are metal based.
Maybe you metalheads can just shout louder.

I agree.
I play a bit of everything- blues, jazz (er, badly, i'm trying to learn), classic rock, 80's metal/rock/shred, 50's etc.
I like most guitar music. As long as it doesn't have "alternative" or "indie" somewhere in the title of the genre, odds are I like it.
