Title: Cutting in a Band Mix
Post by: octavio_amzer on June 17, 2007, 11:17:22 PM
What I'm looking for is the best contemporary pickup that can give me a perfect "cut in the mix" sound.

It must be organic, HEAVY and versatil all at the same time. Tight bass but not overwhelming, mids are important and the highs must not be stupidly trebly.

Going to a Korina back & neck with ebony fingerboard

thankyou

Not sure if its "metal" enough for you, but Rebel Yell sits well in a band and sounds great in my basswood/maple charvel.

rebell yells mmmm... but I don't think rebell yells can do very heavy stuff like Thrash or Death

Thrash probably, death, probably not.

Nailbombs or Crawlers. Depends on how heavy you want to get or how versitile.

Nailbombs are great in band situations and sound exactly how you describe.

I have a Nailbomb in my Korina Explorer and they have a huge, tight bass end / thick, screaming midrange and a surprisingly phat and full treble.  They have no problem cutting through - I've got mine tuned down to C as well.

In that setup I'd also endorse the Nailbomb.

one thing to try when you can...bump up those mids a tad bit-we have all gotten so much into zappin' those guys,it can lead to no cut-a little goes a long ways on my amps!
