Title: Humbucker in a Jazzmaster
Post by: JonnyScaramanga on June 22, 2007, 05:35:04 PM
Has anyone ever put a humbucker in the bridge position of a Fender Jazzmaster?

What's involved? Does the body need any additional routing? I'm assuming it would, because the stock pickups are mounted at the sides, and obviously humbuckers have their mounting screws top and bottom. And then presumably there'd be a new scratchplate as well. Any other complications?

New scratch-plate and some extra routing
Non reversible though (or not easily) so chose carefully if you want to do it

Not BKP i'm afraid, who don't make JM pickups - if you don't want to route out your body you could try a competitor: http://www.curtisnovak.com/pickups/jazzmaster.shtml

Thanks man. I've gone for a Strat now... it's still going to require routing though, cos it's a vintage reissue.
