Consider his whole catalogue of tones.

Out of plain interest, what would be the BKP with the characteristics to best suit his legato style of playing? If there is more than one pickup covering different eras, please specify.

I'd start with a Nailbomb, for leads,  it's got the mid andis rude enough for the job. The VHII can do a great Maiden rhythm tone too. :twisted:

the VHII from what i heard from Ben's nails the early maiden tone spot on.

the later ones, i wouldnt know.. my BKP lore is not as extended as the duncan pickups lore yet and i absolutely have no idea how any BKP neck pickup sounds =(

Nailbomb and Holy Diver are close to that sound. Or should I say: Way beyond that?

To my ears, the Miracle Man is what the Super Distortion is supposed to sound like. Not really the best pickup for doing the early Maiden type stuff, imo. It will give you a good approximation, especially if you're going to be playing only with amp gain, but in my experience thus far, a VHII in a Strat will get you much closer to a vintage 80s, suped up PAF type tone.

When I think about Iron Maiden, I think about Duncan Custom. I believe I read something about that (but I'm not sure).
So maybe the BKP that come close to a Custom would fit?

The Cold Sweat is in that territory although it uses our hot ceramic magnet unlike the SD Custom which uses a stock size ceramic and can sound rather flat in some guitars.The Cold Sweat also has much more bottom end drive-huge sound!
