Does anyone know anyone who makes one? I really fancy a black one with gold hardware. I know of an Orville by Gibson for £750 on the Japan Guitars website, but I was hoping for something closer to £500. The Edwards replicas have maple tops, and the Tokai LC-185 is £800 in Japan, plus shipping/taxes etc so that rules it out.
Is there another option I've missed?

One of my friends bought his son an Arbor LP copy as a starter guitar. I played it, it was nice for the money. He paid $280 for it.
I perferred it over an Epi LP!

Black ESP with the Gold Binding.
Edwards make one aswell.
As do LTD.
The LTD one is 24 fret.
Edit: Nvm - Thought the matte ones had mahogany tops - Just looked it up and I'm wrong...

Nevermind my post!
I just checked, it's an agathis body.

keeep a lookout on ebay for a similar orville to the one from Japan Guitars. everything on there comes up on ebay for half the price eventually.

How much does that weigh? The last agathis guitar I had weighed a tonne. It was even chambered. It felt like it was made from concrete.

Just checked the ESP ones and I don't like the three control layout, or the EMGs.
I guess I'll need to keep an eye out for an Orville on the 'Bay...

The Eclipse CTM1, the one you mean, has a maple top.

You checked the US website. As you live in Manchester, go check the international overseas website:
http://www.espguitars.co.jp/oversea/index_gt.html
You will see the worldwide model has the traditional 4 knob layout.

Thanks Alex - you're right! Shame they only do maple topped models...
-
Many LTDs are all mahagony. The ESP isn't in your pricerange anyway I think.
-
On the website it says they all have a maple top? :?

How about these hagstroms mahogany top and back
Also soundcontrol stock them
-
Hmmm. A bit funny looking for me, but cheers!
-
*L* kinda like them but an aquired taste I guess
-
Agile make a couple of black LP's in their lower cost models that are all mahogany bodies.

On the website are ESPs.
LTD is the cheaper brand, like Epiphone to Gibson. Many of those are all-mahagony, but even those with a maple top are probably interesting for you, because I don't think the maple top is thick enough to really have a tonal impact.

I can vouch that the EC1000 is a gorgeous guitar - And... IT'S 24 FRET!!!
-
eclipses aren't les pauls
they are skinny, almost like sgs
you can't get a true les paul sound with a 3 cm thick body
-
Yeah, but to be honest many LesPauls have weight relief holes, so it's really hard to tell what "the" LesPaul sound is and what each player thinks it should be. Besides, I think the AT if full thickness.
