Sold my VHT 2 weeks ago and went buy me a TinyTerror ... finally!
Been GASing for one of these for a while now. Gotta tell you about the Tiny Terror: IT'S REAL FUN!!!!!
Great with pedals too. Gonna use this on my next gig, for real!
This is some wankage, quickly done with the laptop integrated mic (which is actually really bad) and some post EQ'ing in Spark. One clip is the 7W setting the other one the 15W which are quite different in feel and tone. Like em both.
Also done on really low volume but with gain and tone both dimed. Through my 1x12 Marshall with G12-65 Rola.
Ahhh yeah this is the BlackDog set equipped Epi Les Paul ...

Nice purchase :D
7 watts sounds a lot better, but apparently 7 watts is recommended for recording more than 15.
Sounds great!

That's a funny lookin toaster you got there...
All bread preparations aside, yeah, real nice. I want one too, but i wonder if i should just get the Little Rock Matamp instead. I don't have a lot of money and i am more or less a beginner guitarist, so i just want something that will rip on practice as well as play - have no intentions of giggin any time soon. I liked the 15 watt better i think; the 7 watt sounded more growly and less defined. I just want a good tube that doesn't cost a fortune (not now anyways), because my ss is starting to piss me off - cheap ass Marshall ss
-
Not sure as I never was able to try the matamp. The tiny is worth every penny, that's for sure. Also resell value is very very good, so low risk anyways.
Pity just that it doesn't have a loop ...
-
Sounds nice I think I prefer the 7 watt as well although they both sound good
-
Nice! 7 watt sounds better to me too. Similar to my Little Rock in fact, but I believe the Little Rock is more flexible as it has bass/treble controls (not just tone) and three clean/three dirty gain voices (thick-medium-thin).
Must get some clips of my Little Rock done...

Not sure as I haven't heard it. The 7/15W settings are essential on the Tiny as 15W makes it giggable (also in my recordings I did post EQing and maybe I overdid it on the 15W one a bit).
I actually don't miss any further tone controls, works very well in fact. Turn tone up and you have crunch depending on the gain from SRV/ACDC/Metallica, turn it back and you have Robben Ford or Santana, it's really that simple. The Gain pot on the TT has two different phases (adding another gain stage from around noon onwards) which does add a lot of flexibility. For example with gain at 4 and master and tone at 10 it's a completely different animal than with the gain up - think Jeff Buckley with the gain down.
I don't think there's a real question as to which one is better, let's not get into that subjective argument. Probably if you don't need more than 6W, the Matamp is the better choice, personally I also like 6V6s character.
And yes, get those clips done! :P
-
Fair point Hunter, I wasn't trying to start a fight ;) Sounds like they both do a very similar job, although the TT does have the 15w stage for gigging. I used my Matamp in rehearsal last week and it was only just loud enough. It's cracking for home use though, and I'm sure it would record superbly.
I'll see if I can get some clips done this week.

I waa trying to decide between the tt and the little rock so went onto the orange forum and found this post from one of the orange experts
Well Hi Guys..... If you own a TT, read this and weep...
It arrived...contrary to any previous posts.. about an hour and half ago...
I have to say, all things considered,.. it blows the TT completely out of the water...and I still like the TT...
Two little amps now going to gigs ...no contest
It is incredibly loud...2/4 watts????...on steroids perhaps!
Sounds like a real amp should, with pedals or otherwise...don't think I'll be needing overdrive pedals any more.
This one you can crank up and back off the guitar volume to clean up!!!!It does work...
That settled it for me really, but i dont really need the 15w mode so it was an easy choice. If i was after something louder it would have been very difficult to decide
although its worth pointing out that the matamp has a DI socket so could be sent straight to a PA system, or used with a slave head for more power, or just miked up - its all depends on your gigging situation

No brainer really, matamps are painstakingly hand built in this great country (UK) and TT's made in China. Buy Matamp and reduce your amp miles...

sounds great hunter!!, now just ditch that dumbass Diezel :P
The 7watt clip is the better of the two.. I love ur Gary Moore tone! ;)

For an amp of the this stature, the recording does not reflect it's true potential, but even through the laptop mic it sounds ok. I once went out with an orange haired girl, she ate potatoes and ran naked in streams of rotten egg yolk, laughing whilst rolling in her own vomit. GOOD TIMES! lol
