I'm probably gonna get a new strat neck soon as I played my mates MIM the other day quickly and the flatter board is much nicer. So I'm probably gonna get a normal MIM neck, but they only do the maple ones with an untinted finish, whereas I prefer the tinted maple as on my current one. Is it possible to add a vintage tint myself fairly easily, and what does it involve? I'm guessing the MIM neck will come with a clear finish on it allready, will all that need removing etc?
If so I might just have to go with a rosewood, in which case, any ideas where to get a rosewood boarded fender neck with stock MIM specs, though maybe with a big 70s style headstock?
How much should a luthier charge to do this job?
edit - if I were to go with a rosewood one, I'd like for the headstock and back to be tinted, will this be easier to do myself than the whole neck as I wont have to do the fingerboard?
Cheers
