Title: Help me decide on what covers to have...
Post by: March on July 25, 2005, 03:59:40 PM
Below is a link to my 2003 Les Paul Std. I think we can agree that the top looks stunning and I can assure you, it plays as good as it looks!

I've decided though that this guitar is the next to recieve the BKP treatment and at the moment I think that the Emerald set are the most likely candidates, however it is not this that is causing me probs...

Nope, I cannot decided whether to go for covered, zebras or just black coiled humbuckers, so I am throwing this one over to you guys to decide!  :D

First I thought zebra's. But that's what everyone and his brother does with a guitar like that. Go for nickel, will age nicely, keeps the guitar looking vintage. If you wanna make it look special, have the covers engraved.

How about our new 'raw' nickel silver covers? They'll age up in no time at all.

I'd say nickel or double cream for that full fat vintage look. Aged nickel always looks cool.

Depends what style of music you play really.
I'd prob go for the unpolished nickel but I think plain black covers would look good too?

For a comparison with Phil's photo's, here is a link to Gibson's Faded Burst LP Std's. These have the zebras. Thus far though it looks like the nickel's have the beating of the other choices!
