Title: Head as a power amp for rack effects?
Post by: Orkestra on July 14, 2007, 07:24:58 PM
Is this possible?

Im looking for a decent pre-amp... but I don't want to buy a seperate power amp. I have plenty of shitety solid state heads lying about... a Crate 120 head for example... how would I bypass all the junky tone this produces and just use it as a simple power source?

You can use the FX loop Return as a "power amp in" on many amps.

I've plugged my Rocktron VooduValve into my Rectifier this way for years....

Don't forget tho that the Poweramp still can have a pretty big influence on your tone, so I'd adivse not just using the cheapest thing lying around.
