Title: Painkiller in a PRS
Post by: maliciousteve on July 15, 2007, 11:25:09 PM
hey guys. I have a covered Painkiller lying around my bedroom and was thinking of putting it in my PRS. Currently the PRS has an uncovered Miracle Man and it sounds great. But I love the Painkiller too, it's one of my favorite pickups. The PRS is all mahogany with a brazillian rosewood fretboard if that helps.

Try it...if you prefer it keep it, if not put the miracle man back in. Your in a win win situation. I wish I was you :p

but your Jack Bauer!!!? why would you wanna be anyone else?!?!  :o

anyway, like the man says- why not just give it a try out? its worth the fairly minimal hassle if it turns out its a good combo.

Maybe he wants to be Keifer Sutherland!

I have to agree with everyone else, just try it, you can always take it out if you don't like it.  I am forever changing pickups if I think that the sound isn't right.

I have Painkiller set in all mahogany Explorer and it is by far my favorite guitar.

And how can you not know who Jack Bauer is?!!

well just finished putting the Painkiller in the PRS. It was a bit tricky to get the fiddly git in so I had to file the edges of the pickup routes a tiny bit to get it in. Wiring was pretty simple. Looks pretty cool now.

I much prefer the lead tone of this pickup to the Miracle Man. the Miracle Man is a little tighter with the low end but I'm probably going to be using a boost pedal from now on so that takes care of it. Now I remember why i like the painkiller so much

Not too sure Sam. Might see what it would be like in the Neck position. I've heard bridge humbuckers in necks before and it sounded kinda cool. But not too sure other than that. If it doesn't work out i'll sell it off
